Désiré's sexuality is particularly interesting and hard to describe.

This is partially because he is not a human, he was raised in Hell where the social norms are very different. It is also because he is a sex Demon, he needs sexual energy, and so his hunger and sexuality are directly linked to one another.

Désiré has never felt much of an attraction to women, though he will sleep with women, describing it more as "That food in your fridge that you're not really feeling but you're hungry so you eat it anyways." Though he does sometimes find women attractive, that doesn't really mean that he is attracted to them. Though due to the nature of his creation, Désiré actually has no idea if he was made to be that way, or if he is just like that naturally.

Though romantically, it is pretty clear that Désiré is Demiromantic, and is not able to be romantically involved with anyone without an established emotional connection. To be specific, he is HomoDemiromantic, as he only feels romantic attraction to men.

Désiré's Thoughts: About Sylan’driel

Désiré considers Sylan’driel to be him, a past him, but also considers him a different person entirely. When Sylan’driel was in that well, when he gave up on hope and salvation and prayer, Sylan’driel died. And whoever Désiré is, is the thing that grew out of his corpse. He mourned the person he used to be, but at the same time, Désiré sometimes thinks he got what he deserved. That's what he got for thinking he could be different from the rest. A Demon, living with humans? A Demon learning to love and be loved? That's fucking pathetic. Get up, stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one is coming to save you. It was because of him that he had to live like this now, angry and afraid, unable to connect with anyone because he had to put his walls up so high not even the warmth of the sun could get through.

And yet... Sylan’driel didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve to die for wanting to feel like he belonged somewhere. It wasn't his fault he was made broken. Some days he has to accept the fact that in the best timeline, Sylan’driel was still alive, and Désiré never existed. Désiré's existence outside of Sylan’driel was never supposed to happen, and sometimes he wished that he didn't have to exist. But he did, and all that pain and loss and resentment carried over. And now Désiré was just going to have to live with that.

Désiré's Thoughts: About Creation

Désiré was created to be a Paragon of Lust, the perfect Succubus under Asmodeus' design. Every single part of him was specially crafted for that one purpose, from his body, his skin, his taste and smell, bone structure, height, colours, mouth, curves, ass—everything. All meticulously calculated and carved from the desires of millions upon millions of people. Over 50 million people's desires, to be exact, the most that Hell had ever seen since the 1100s.

Sylan’driel's "Birth" was a bit of a big deal, even if he didn't know it at the time.

But it is because of the sheer maticulousness of his creation that does make Désiré wonder... how much of him is truly "him?" How much of Désiré is his own person, and how much of it was just what he was created to be? Does he like pretty clothes and fancy drinks because that's just a part of his personality? Or was he predestined to like those things from the start? Did he actually like his body? Or they way he looked in mirrors? Was he truly attracted to the people he thought were hot, or enjoy spending time with the people he liked? Was any of that truly "him?"

Désiré doesn't know the answer to that question, and not knowing scares him. So instead of worrying about it, he just shoves it to the back of his mind and refuses to think about it. He doesn't want to think about the possibility of not truly loving the people that he loves in the right way.

It is because of this—plus the fact that he considers himself seperate from Sylan’driel—That Désiré has a habit of objectifying himself in the most literal sense. Désiré does not have a high opinion of himself due to centuries of being told that he was broken. He struggles to think of himself as a person with complexity and depth, but more so as an object—a broken toy that's no fun to play with, a chipped piece of fine China that lost all of its value. If asked, Désiré would describe himself as nothing much more than a fancy sentient sex doll, and not understand what's so wrong with that comparison. If he was only made for lust and desire and sex, then wouldn't that just make him correct?

And the problem especially arises with the fact that sometimes Désiré does love doing things that are objectifying. He loves modeling for magazines, and risqué dancing, and getting compliments about his appearance. But then that same question arises. Does he like these things because he actually likes them? Or just because he was literally made to like them?

Désiré, ultimately, is a person who does not know who he is outside of being a Succubus, because that's all that he was ever supposed to be. And now he couldn't even be that—he's the worst Succubus. So if he can't even be that, then what is he?
