         It had been almost three weeks since she had last seen her father... her childhood hero at the mercy of the cyborg ---the day she dared enter the lion’s den and threaten Lillian Luthor and her band of merry men. Every other night, unbeknown to Kara, Hank or Maggie, she had been going to the woods in search of Jeremiah. Flashlight in hand, Maaldorian laser pistol by her hip, knife in her back pocket, she was ready for anything ---well, almost. Heavy boots stomped over the layer of dry leaves that coated the ground. He could be anywhere, but she had a feeling he had found refuge, maybe made camp near a river like they used to when she was young. Groaning and grunting; she turned at the sound of a sudden scuffle. Shining the lamp towards the source. She could make out a woman, a man... two silhouettes struggling in the dark. Squinting, she pulled out her gun, pointed it at them... which was which?

Well, Vivian is an actual cat, of course.  She has a nickname and several tags about it and everything.  She’d be an ordinary brown tabby.  I guess I also associate her with snakes and red pandas, since she’s been known to scream incoherently about both.  (Actually I guess that’s what other people associate her with too, since I’ve had people tag me in pictures of both, and someone once alerted me to a Betsey Johnson jewelry collection involving snakes on Vivian’s behalf.)

I’ve always thought of myself as a platypus - the outsider to the animal kingdom that requires its own classification.  When we played the ‘what animal would someone be’ game in a class back in high school though, someone declared me to be a peacock, and the rest of the class was adamant it was the best animal to fit me.

Damn stupid power. Peyton was enjoying tea and a book. Quite contentedly in fact when suddenly all lights were out. Hearing Liv calling out, she grabs her phone and turns that flashlight on before wandering out to the kitchen. “I think I-” opening up a bottom drawer she finds a few flashlights and candles. “-aha!” Handing one over, she finally gets a good look at Liv. “Hey are you...I mean...you look more dead than usual.” There might be an ounce of fear lacing her tone, but it’s mostly just concern for her friend. “How long has it been since you ate?”

     “I love this song.” The evening has been long, filled with bad tv, junk food, and drinks. Ravi and Major have passed out but Peyton and Liv remain very much away. “Come on, we’re dancing. Gotta dance off at least a little of this food or else I’ll suffer the glare of my starved yoga instructor tomorrow.”
