Naanum Neeyum Neenginaal (Jeevane OS 3)
Solaiyilum mutkal thondrum
naanum neeyum neenginaal
(For the benefit of others,
you and I were separated)
Arulmozhi was restless. More than he had ever been.
Ever since he had left Pazhayarai a short while ago, his heart thumped through his heart, through his arm even, and through his blood, it felt like.
Arulmozhi was well aware that he had inherited the Chozha temper from his father and Anna, but he had also been raised on restraint by three strong women. And that melded better for his personality than his brother's.
It was often said the eldest was a mirror of the father, and in the case of Aditha Karikalan, that was actually true.
Aditha was very much their father Sundara Chozhar from youth- Arulmozhi had heard everyone, including Periya Pazhavettarayar, say the same. The restlessness, a bit of casual arrogance, and the endless hotblooded, bloodthirsty vengeance.
Arulmozhi did not fool himself in thinking he was perfect or beyond all these characteristics. He knew well he had all of them himself. The only thing he also had was Sembiyan Maadevi, Vanavan Maadevi and Kundavai's lessons imprinted in his heart.
He had gotten the balance of Chozha fury from his father and strategy through women since a young age, and that helped him much more than he probably knew.
Sometimes, Arulmozhi wondered if he too would have a failed love story like his Anna, and if his perception was right, his Appa as well. But the latter idea was guess work, and he would not wish the former on anyone.
"Heartbreak does not mean neglecting the Kingdom," Kundavai had told Arulmozhi sharply, when the latter had brought Karikalan up. Kundavai had been very dissatisfied with Aditha's behaviour, and it showed.
She had continued, "Yes, he lost Nandhini. But she is an orphan, Arulmozhi. She could not have been the Queen of Chozha Nadu. And our motherland? That comes first for me, above everyone, even myself. Why, even you."
Arulmozhi had felt hurt when she said that, but had later on understood when Varaguna Athai had sat him down and told him what Chozhas follow as love for the motherland. For the young boy who thought he came first to the man who understood why he could not be above the motherland, Arulmozhi had come a long way.
And now, he was the Thenthisai maarthanda naayakar, the commander of the Chozha forces in the South.
He did not know if he was ready, but yet, he felt like this was the right move. He was tired of being coddled by the women in the antahpuram, treated like a child who was golden.
No matter the golden glow of his skin.
This position, this chance- all of it was for his Chozha Nadu, for the betterment of the land his Anna would one day rule. Arulmozhi prayed he could be the commander for Aditha, winning battles and celebrating the victory of Chozha Nadu.
He could finally do something for his motherland.
Large, doe eyes touched his inner mind's vision the moment he thought of his motherland, and he blinked. He knew, just from her eyes, that she had felt what he had, and seen what he had.
But it was for the time being- this separation.
He was sure he would see Vaanathi soon enough, and his Akka would definitely write to him about her.
Wouldn't she?
Separation was normal for anyone who wanted to do something for the motherland, and it always will be.
He smiled for a moment, pressing her eyes to his heart, before gently nudging his horse to now move faster. He wanted to talk to Periya Velar's second son, Aditya Varman.
They had plans to go over.
