I know it might be a bit weird but out of all of Tenko's ships I feel like Rantenko is the one that oddly makes the most sense. Tenko ultimately doesn't get along with most of the girls and while she clearly has a crush for Himiko it is a very one sided relationship. Meanwhile out of the boys Rantaro seems generally just cool headed and agreeable, that he'd have patience for Tenko's antics and her default attempts to push him away, getting past her walls. One comic by "foryoupeko" I feel like really encapsulates that potential dynamic, where Rantaro offers Tenko a mango, she responds "More like Man-Go-Away" and Rantaro just says "I'm gonna cut into squares for you" to which she thanks him (also kind of funny that they nailed that dynamic considering they apparently haven't played V3 yet). Obviously that could just remain platonic but I could see over time feelings developing between them.

sorry to be irrelevent but I REALLY want to hear about Ishimaru X Kokichi

youre my favorite and I don't even care if its irrelevant i want to talk about them always

Alright it is my theory that the ONLY difference between ishimaru and kokichi is that ishimaru does change inside society, and kokichi changes outside society.

Kokichi puts it best in their talent development program interaction

When you start looking at their similarities they stack up FAST

Dark haired leader in white

References to them as some sort of demon

Desires to change society

Dissatisfied with the status quo

They both want to help but often go about it in ways people do not appreciate

Distrust of certain forms of authority (Ishimaru while very respectful is INCREDIBLY aware of things like corruption thanks to his history)

Strong sense of justice

Loud and extroverted with a strong deference to the rules they choose to follow

A strong dislike when they're boiled down to a simply adjective

They both put a lot of effort into everything they do no matter what

Go through some massive transformation that changes everyone's perspective on them and directly leads to their deaths

They both believed the best way to handle the second motive was to tell everyone it

Hell both of there names start with the letter K

This one's headcanon but you CANNOT convince me Kokichi doesn't think the talent system is bullshit like Ishimaru

The only REAL difference is where they choose to stake their place to change. Ishimaru wants to gain power within the systems to change them from the inside, while Kokichi wants to burn it down and rise something better from the ashes. If they could work together, they'd be fucking unstoppable. Kokichi could introduce chaos and adaptability into Ishimaru's life while Ishimaru could give Kokichi a sense of stability and better appreciation for why it's important to work inside the lines sometimes. They balance out SO SO WELL.

Also Kokichi really will look at any potential rival or counter ideology to him and go "Is anyone going to flirt with that?" and not wait for an answer

I agree with what you said about the Love Hotels

They're not about Shuichi specifically. They're the other characters' general fantasies that Shuichi is being projected into. So yeah they're not necessarily an accurate depiction of what a relationship between Shuichi and that character would actually be like.

Like it's very clear that they aren't seeing Shuichi, its an ideal, a self insert fanfiction dream, just because you self insert want to kiss uhhh Michael Myers doesn't mean you'd actually IRL want to kiss a mass murderer. Ideals are not reality, they can reflect reality, but they are not equal to it. You can learn a lot about someone about their ideals.

For instance Korekiyo's ideal does not contain any mention to his sister. He does not view his sister or a shuichi taking the place of his sister, as an ideal. He views his ideal as someone who

approaches him

is someone who he can have control over

and is someone who is interested in either him or his teachings

someone he does not have to form an emotional bond with

From this we can gleam that Korekiyo's ideal is having a sense of power and someone taking interest in him, an interest he does not have to return in any way he does not wish too. When you apply that to his backstory, it becomes VERY interesting that his ideal is very much the OPPOSITE of his 'beloved sister' what the extent of this means is up to interpretation, but its a very interesting view into a character. It does not mean that Korekiyo would actually not let someone leave a scene, it means in his ideal, the scene is fully about him, and not anyone else.

If you take it literally then it just makes Korekiyo a bad person and not much else but as you take it as something closer to symbolic, suddenly it really blooms into much deeper character analysis. So I can get why people may be put off, but i think reducing a character to their love hotel is a big diminish for their characterizations. Especially as it is also being optional enough that if you don't want to dig into it and just go "hm prefer that not to be a thing" you can do that you can super easily just ignore it without losing much.

its so fucking funny they just kinda stare blankly and go "okay...moving...moving on" like they have to watch Miu happily exclaim with such glee that she's finally been called a cum dumpster and then poor gonta is just "What...what should we talk about now" like it's so fucking good

I'm not really a fan of Junko being the Ultimate Analyst since in THH the thing that made her terrifying is that she was unexpected and ‘normal’.

While it's kind of grown on me but when I first learned about it I was so upset because I felt like it took away from the fact she was 'normal' and was able to cause all this because she was able to blend in and use the platform it gave her to spread misery and cause chaos which I felt led into a solid message about being careful around trends and influencers

Nowadays I'm less mad about it and actually think it makes more thematic sense with the way the series ended up going, but i am sad the original message about how it doesnt take a genius to ruin everything, just someone charismatic got lost

Nagito isn't simply a classist, he's an esoteric classist. To him conventional class divisions are irrelevant, there's no upper, middle or lower class, instead he has replaced with his own hierarchy and division of Ultimates and non-ultimates. And by this model he is a complete supremacist, sure he considers himself at the bottom of the ultimates hierarchy but he still considers himself far above non-ultimates. So what makes someone an ultimate? Well in Nagito's view its someone chosen by talent, the idea that an ultimate is essentially predestined to become one by combination of surrounding enviorment and nature's of one's birth. To him the effort an ultimate put towards honing their talent to become an ultimate is part of the predestination, that a non-ultimate wouldn't and/or couldn't put in the effort. A lot of these views are painted by his own talent that has robbed him of his own agency.

In short, don't give Nagito the mic.
