top 5 tropes!!!
Idk if these are all necessarily tropes but this is what turns me insane:
5. Any depiction of anarchism that understands it is neither hopeless or strictly about riotporn.
4. The language of hands. Expression in hands that doesn't get translated into speech. Case in point: Ramin Karimloo's performance in the 25th Phantom of the Opera anniversary show. Watch his hands.
3. Lovers returning to one another again and again, even if they shouldn't. I get tired when its lovers fighting near constantly-- I dont see the love in that, it starts to be passion and resentment imo. Lovers who come back to one another, through chance or through long-lived lives... omg. Not a perfect love but an honest one.
2. Tender bad boys. Like I feel like today you gotta clarify bad boy doesnt mean Fascist but it also doesn't mean like, mouthy bastard. Like a character who does bad things but has a streak of tenderness a mile deep. Someone who doesn't pull the trigger.
1. Fundamentally good characters that can and do endure hardship without becoming a complete asshole. I dont mean they always sat the nice thing or that they're perfect, I mean that they have a kindness that I go insane for. A genuine earnestness for people. A romantic love for the world that rejects cynicism but isn't naivete either. And this kind of ties back to #5 for me -- it's a perspective thing
