✩ {Text}: Well shit, I’m sorry. I try to bring food home from school but you know they don’t give much shit for free.
Hell, they had stolen the phones and ran only on wifi connection. He was out now, and instead of doing homework- he was trying to get more food. Usually younger, cute looking “girls” got better money.
{Text}: Look, maybe now isn’t the best time....I’m a bit occupied.
Yeah, especially when these older men were looking at up and down thinking that you were a teasing woman, willing to pay fairly well.
{Text}: Look, we can get some shit as soon as I get some quick cash here, okay? Stop by the gas station and feast. Then I am crashing because I only get an hour or two between shifts and school and Sunday is my only open fucking day.

Haise’s memories (or lack thereof) had always been a touchy subject, but it was even worse around Judal. After their initial meeting (Haise still visibly cringed whenever that particular train-wreck of emotion came to mind), Haise tried to avoid the topic as much as he could. He never argued if Judal himself brought their conversations that way, even though the crest-fallen expression that shadowed Judal’s features after every failed attempt made Haise want to break something.
They’d come close once; so close that Haise only had a moment to recognize the searing agony that spread through his skull before unconsciousness pulled him under. After that, with tense shoulders and guarded eyes, Judal suggested that they give up on the idea.
(Judal never did tell Haise exactly what happened that day after he fell unconscious, no matter how much he’d bugged the other about it.)
Haise had taken to trying in secret after that, using the few spare moments the investigator could get to himself to keep trying. It took him a few months, but eventually Haise could bring himself to focus through the pain enough to at least grasp at something.
The memories he could see were never big ones, just small snippets of flashbacks; part of a movie night with Judal, a joke shared with a lively boy with dyed blonde hair, a game he vaguely remembered Saiko calling ‘Mario Kart’... The most recent one had been of a small girl, saying something to him as she clutched a worn notebook to her chest. (Their faces were always obscured in shadow, only serving to add to Haise’s mounting frustration.)
They were nothing that should be worth the pain it put him through, but Haise couldn’t bring himself to stop.
------
“Are you honestly sure that a third movie night in a row is what you want to do?” Haise heaved a quiet sigh, shutting the book he’d had open in his lap and resting it on the coffee table. (He hadn’t actually been reading it for the last half hour anyway, only staring at the same five lines his brain had refused to process.) He eyed the stack of old horror films Judal had spread out on the coffee table in front of himself skeptically. “None of those even look particularly good.”

Sinbad placed his hands on his hips and sighed. “You again?”

♠ for a kiss that leaves a mark on the skin
Send my muse kisses you want to give them!
She giggles as Judal’s lips attach themselves to her neck, leaving kisses here and there. They’re sprawled out on the too-big couch they managed to fit in Judal’s apartment and never ended up returning. His head is buried in the crook of Therith’s neck, teeth gently scraping along the length of it. Therith’s running her fingers through his unruly black hair, content with this, content with them.
Therith’s giggles melt into soft, shuddering sighs as Judal’s kisses turn to gentle bites. Fingers grip at his hair as his lips latch onto the skin just below her pointed ear and suck. It’s enough to have the elf squirming, toes curling in delight and neck stretching to give Judal more room. Therith whimpers as Judal gives a long, hard suck, tongue lathing over the now purple mark. Judal pulls away from Therith’s neck after placing a kiss over the hickey and lays his had atop her chest, grinning up at her.
“Think your boss will notice that in the morning when you go to work?” He’s got a smug grin on now, fingers making their way up Therith’s shirt to trace at the tattoos curving under her breasts.
Therith smiles, rolling her eyes and tugs at a strand of his hair. “You know she will, vhenan, she always does.”

It had been three weeks since Alibaba’s soul and Judal came back. Alibaba hadn’t woken up, all the while Judal was rather stuck here at Yunan’s home. It couldn’t be easy to have traveled in the Great Rift for such a long time, or so Yunan thought. He never entered the Rift that deeply himself.
Yunan just finished preparing dinner. Well, it wasn’t exactly a normal dinner, but it was normal enough for the old Magi. He sat by the fire and took the fish. ‘’Judal?’’ he called out. ‘’Food’s ready. Are you coming?’’ He didn’t what the boy was doing inside the house.
