okay weird route theory (this theory is reliant on simulation theory and toilet theory)
the weird route was done before by dess. during asgores backstory, when he mentions dess, it playd the ch4 thorn ring equip sound.
its established that dess is dead or missing, im going to offer the answer of "both and more"
dess, after realizing she cant escape because the town is a game and there is nothing outside the boundaries of the game, began the weird route using kris. grooming them the same way we did to noelle. eventually, they reached the lake portion. dess, with the same intention as noelle (to get to the other side of the lake and escape) took kris with her. during this, kris stopped listening to her instructions at some point and swam up to the surface. dess drowned and partially completed the glitch, resulting in her consciousness becoming stuck in the code (untitled) and her body going to the bottom of the lake and becoming a part of the depths (the knight). from kris's perspective, this was an attempted double suicide that ended with one of the people they care about most killing herself.
in the weird route, we are repeating a version of what was done to kris onto noelle and finally finishing the glitch kris was too scared to go through with.
