When I was a kid, I always told someone (my grandma, uncle, or mom) when I was hurting. Stomach cramps, headache, bruises, wheezing, paper cut, stuff like that. Most of the time I was told that I complain too much.
Now a days, I only tell mom of my aches/pains when it becomes extreme to the point that any movement is a great discomfort. All thanks to that little sentence.
Thinking of it now, makes me angry and want to cry in frustration. I'm sorry that I just wanted to tell you how I was feeling at the time. That I wasn't doing it just for attention, but because I wanted you to know and see if there was anything you could do to help ease the pain. Those words may not have effected me then but as I grew older, they stayed in my brain and always popped up when I thought of saying something about my aches/pains.
And you all wondered why I started becoming more quiet over the years.
