“J-Jounouchi-kun! Jounouchi-kun!”
Yuugi ran as fast as his legs allowed, lungs burning. Adrenaline pushed him forward as he reached out, catching the arm of the person he’d just barely managed to catch in the crowd. It didn’t hit Yuugi until a few weeks ago, but it had been so long since he’d seen his friend. In fact, as far as he was able to tell, months had passed since they were last in contact, maybe more than just that. It felt like an eternity since they last met up and when Yuugi had spotted a familiar head of corn silk colored hair, he hadn’t been able to stop himself from forgetting everything else and chasing after him.
It was in those weeks ago that Yuugi had realized something that should have been so obvious. He’d had a passing thought of Katsuya and had tried to call him, but it didn’t go through. None of his calls did, nor did any texts. The sudden realization of the other’s absence had left Yuugi feeling as if he was being crushed beneath an impossible amount of weight. It left him stuck awake at night, left him dazed at work and during his university classes. The more he thought about it, the more Yuugi realized something that he should have known from the very beginning.
Yuugi loved Katsuya. Not in a platonic manner, either, but with all of his heart. He’d just been so distracted by everything else, been distracted by another person, that Yuugi had been blind to everything that Katsuya had done for him. Sweet and kind gestures, a short fuse whenever anyone messed with Yuugi, all the sacrifices...
How had Yuugi missed it all?
However, after he finally caught up with the other, his hand on the blond’s wrist, Yuugi let out a relieved sigh, so much tension leaving his body, making him feeling more exhausted than the sprint down the street had.
“I’m so glad I finally found you!” Yuugi exclaimed, moving to stand in front of the other. He was hesitant to, but after maybe too long of a moment, he finally let go of Katsuya’s wrist. “Where have you been? I’ve been calling... Oh, nevermind. Jounouchi-kun, do you have a moment? I really...” Here, Yuugi flushed a light red, rubbing at the back of his own neck. “I have something I want to say to you and, um, talk with you about. I know it’s sudden and maybe not right of me to try and steal some of your time, but...” Yuugi bit his lip.
Man, he was always so bad with this kind of thing!
“Please!” Orchid hues snapped up to Katsuya’s face, eyebrows pinching together as Yuugi’s expression turned pleading. “Just a few minutes!”
