“Champagne Pong” 2023

When I began coming up with concepts for De-Table-Izatoin, I immediately began playing with the word table and the different uses of the word. I was thinking of different types of commonly used tables; dining tables and coffee tables came to mind first. Then I started thinking of different words and phrases using table: periodic table, table wine, beer pong table. Once I got to the idea of a beer pong table, I realized I had never seen a beer pong table or played in my life. This realization caused me to think about my relationship with parties.
My relationship with parties has always been different from a typical college party. I have always experienced more elevated parties with dressing up, sipping cocktails, tasting wines and whiskeys, and, of course, that obligatory tray of champagne offered when entering the event. Through my thinking of past experiences, I came up with an elevated, more sophisticated game of beer pong that I call Champagne Pong.
