SΛRIN played at Baltimore House and as expected it was an intense spectacle. Donned in studded, full face, black balaclava Emad delivered some heavy stuff to an intimate but appreciative Hamilton audience on Friday night. On stage SΛRIN is a terrifying, tall, lanky phantom, intoxicated and at one with an intense, frightening darkness. The highlight of any SΛRIN performance is when Emad steps out from behind the synth and computer to crouch down amidst the droves of  thick fog to go at a piece of metal with a power grinder. Sending sparks halfway across the room SΛRIN brings new resonance to the term “Industrial.” I highly recommend checking out a SΛRIN sometime, and, for that matter, check out anything and everything going on in Toronto’s DETH Records camp.
