Detlev fell in love with a man, Laurin, in his teens, but the world treated that love as a crime. Fear and circumstance kept them apart. A loss that stayed with him forever. In the end, he married a woman. Pressured by society and afraid of the consequences of choosing otherwise.

I have so many OCs with black or dark hair that I decided to give Laurin blond hair for a change. There isn't a big height difference between him and Laurin, Detlev is just a little shorter. Both come from northern Germany and they often spend their time by the water, writing poems or reading together. Their affection isn't loud or obvious. It shows in small, quiet gestures like: making tea exactly the way the other prefers 🫖, straightening each other's scarves before going outside🧣, sitting close enough that their shoulders touch while they read or leaving pressed flowers between the pages of each others books 🌼📚

Laurin and Detlev begin as close friends. They bond over their love of books and poetry, even if Laurin is admittedly terrible at writing it. Detlev tends to be cautious, understandably so, given the time period they live in, while Laurin is more relaxed and open. Their relationship grows quietly, hidden from both of their families.
