charmander: the answer to this ask is the question itself. i will always hold a special place in my heart for the char line for that reason. :)

latias: I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A LOT and i would say charizard because i could fly across the ocean and visit all my friends and also no one would ever hurt me ever again because i had a charizard. fun fact: they did a psych study about abused children back in the early 00s and one of the results was that a lot of them really identified with the charmander line because they themselves wanted to grow up to be someone bigger and tougher and able to protect themselves. and i think about that a lot.

ninetales: the most beautiful pokemon? mmmn. if we're talking in terms of aesthetic grace, i'd say...suicune, i think. or espeon. they're very fluid. not "cute" or cool but beautiful. and milotic but obviously. also glaceon. im not good at picking things

noctowl: noctowl isnt my top five but im going to tell this story it makes me very happy

my first shiny pokemon was an accident: i caught him on route 103, that one right to the left of oldale? like the first fucking in game route, really. and i was like "hey that poochyena is orange. how weird. whatever im gonna catch it lol i need one."

so i evolved the poochyena initially known as SCOOBY (in all caps yes i was eight) into a mightyena, then put him in the box when i moved around team slots. he won a few contest ribbons, nothin fancy.

cut to me coming back to sapphire about....3 years later, just before diamond and pearl came out, and like i realized oh my fucking gOD look a t THIS i had a s H I N Y pokemon it was aMAZING i was so happy

i renamed him mikhail. :) and he is v important. im so glad i caught him!

you know I don't know. I'm both terrified he'll do that to her but it seemed the other week that he had the opportunity to get Bertie hooked (they were both very tired and it mimicked when his mentor got HIM hooked) but instead he told bertie to go home and get some sleep. so I have hope.

I love bertie tbh like he's kinda just a follower but he's a follower with a good heart and he shut gallenger down in the perfect way where gallenger could not throw a hissy fit
