Wearing my Black Paladin Shiro shirt to NYCC today. It’s the only Voltron shirt I CAN wear after Season 7 - other than my Black Paladin Shiro cosplay shirt! I have that all ready to go for tomorrow. Just got to get a name tag that says, “Shiro.”

I really don’t believe this, but...
...I say I won’t buy any more Voltron shirts, and Voltron releases more via Hot Topic and Amazon.
On my birthday, Voltron released a gif from “The Feud,” the exact scene I said was the worst part of the new season.
I say I eat mochi for every new season premiere date (to soothe my turbulent emotions), and what is Fandom’s Voltron-inspired treat at NYCC?
...am I being trolled by Voltron?
All right! Black Paladin Shiro, represent!

Just as a reminder - I’m planning to be at the Voltron panel this Friday, and I’ll be at comic con starting Thursday. This blog won’t be spoiler-free.
Thanks!
Well - I thought the most disappointing part of NYCC this year would be the EPs’ comments at the Voltron panel.
I was wrong.
There are no snacks at the SYFY Lounge, only water.
If you were to ask a Shiro question at NYCC what would it be? I understand that people are afraid to ask questions that are perceived as "being a hater" but how would you word it so that you can avoid it? I imagine that EP's are going to have to prepare themselves for Shiro's related questions after S7
The question I would ask and the question you are asking me to say here are two different things.
However, I do not advocate ever asking a question that would come across as antagonistic, especially in a room full of 3,000 people.
So the way to ask a critical question without being perceived as negative is to phrase it as a “shit sandwich.” You praise, you deliver the bad, and end with more praise. And I would put the onus on me.
I’m not sure what the angle would be, but to avoid confrontation, I would also avoid all the controversy.
Maybe something like:
“Love the action last season! Great fight scenes; however, I really was hoping to see Shiro as the Black Paladin again. I read in an interview that had been one of the possibilities. Why did you ultimately choose to go with Black Paladin Keith? Again, loved it! Just curious.”
This would get you an answer without being negative. Again, that isn’t the question I would ask, but - this is a typical question asked at a comic con.
My question would be different. Of course, I say that now sitting on my couch five weeks away from NYCC. Ask me again in front of 3,000 people, many who have been up since 3 a.m. and are wearing some sort of costume.
My answer might be different.
Sneak peek? Doesn’t sound like, “Season 8 is ready to go in one month.”
Watch it be released on Oct. 5.
Have they confirmed that there will be a Voltron panel in NYCC? We can expect S8 to drop in a couple of months, then? I don't know if I'm sad because it's highly unlikely that it can be fixed then, or relieved because we can get the mess over and done with.
Most panels haven’t been revealed yet. They should be announced within the next week or so since NYCC is just over a month away.
Here’s the thing - we really don’t know what Season 8 entails. @sol1056 has a great theory here - three anons: what the hell was all that in S7 - in which Season 8′s original ending - Allura getting Atlas - was switched with Shiro getting Atlas in Season 7, so Keith has a full arc as the Black Paladin since he didn’t get one, thanks to the Operation Kuron subplot. (This would also bring into account the cut-and-paste job with Shiro in the first few episodes, since “A Little Adventure” might have been set as the S7 midpoint, empowering Shiro to step into the Black Paladin role by the end of Season 7.)
If this was the case, then there is a good chance that the Season 7 and Season 8 endings were switched, and to cut production costs - Shiro would step back into the Black Paladin role by the end of Season 8 with little revision. Then we could easily get a panel at NYCC with the season dropping by the end of the year.
However, if Shiro was originally set to be Atlas by the end of the show, which I can believe but cannot fathom was DreamWorks’ intention, considering this succinct meta about the lion swap - then we might can get a revised Season 8 if there isn’t a panel for VLD at NYCC.
TL;DR: We don’t know anything for certain. Hold tight. We should be getting more information soon.
