I was in Mombasa for a week. This reminded me of the Buddhist conception of heaven. In Buddhist tradition, there are six realms, from heaven to hell. The beings of the heavenly realm live in happiness and splendor, but are blinded to the suffering of others and have no interest in wisdom.
This is due to the pleasurable distractions of the realm. I sure got enough of those in Mombasa. And this is why I needed to go. Heaven sure beats hell, but enlightenment is only possible in between.
