I need to ask a favor of the gaming community. The Star Stable community needs your help. Iâm not here to promote the game, itâs a niche horse MMO targeted mostly for kids, thatâs not going to pan out for me. Iâm here because the devs behind the game need to be held responsible for their actions.
The development team behind SSO has always simplified gaming terminology to make the game accessible for younger players, but itâs gotten worse. Their PR staff is falsifying information, or out right lying about how the industry works to improve their image. Theyâve overpromising for years, and then not acknowledging it when called out. Theyâve been deleting any critique that comes their way where they can in the name of âsafe environments.â And some of their business practices are getting down right manipulative towards whales.
Iâm not asking for a smear campaign. I donât want to ruin the game. I want the developers to start being honest with their community. In an era of companies like EA, microtransations constantly going wrong, and websites like Steam being filled with shovelware, I want to hope that this game doesnât end up being on the list of bad ones.
Iâve made a petition to ask that the developers to have an actual interview or AMA with their community, instead of hosting internally written puff pieces. If you want to see more developer honesty from gaming companies, please support this petition. I know this is silly and itâs just for a little niche game, but if we want to see the industry change as a whole, then we have to encourage better practices wherever we see them. And right now SSO needs that reminder to be better.
