Halloween is coming. The little Jack -O-Lantern devil is coming too! http://etsy.me/2ddBGZ8
The Pan God Ring is coming along quite well...still a few hours to put in. Forged out of 950 silver, it weighs 40 grams.
"Eye Devil" (アイデビ) rings (via goregro).
Technology these days
The advance of technology has allowed us to not only accomplish more in a convenient manner and a small amount of time, but we have the option of hiding behind the safety that is our phones. Everyone knows that texting isn't the best way to communicate, because it's easy to have a message interpreted differently than it was intended, and it's easy to say things you would never normally say. Just a few examples from my weekend - I won't bother breaking them down, because they're pretty self-explanatory.
Devil Ring: Do you want to come visit tomorrow?
Commitment-Phobe: I was actually thinking about coming down but have to be up here for a ballet in the evening. What's up?
D: Could be my last weekend in town :(
C: What?! Where are you going? And WHY would you leave such an amazing city?!
D: The wife wants me to live with her up there. I don't want to go and I hate leaving here! I don't want to be with her!
C: Oh God! That's not good, buddy...I don't know what to say :s Why are you going if you don't want to? You don't want to end up miserable AND resentful.
D: I already am that way. I met you and you are pretty much the coolest chick out there...and you are smart!
C: So I'm what made you miserable and resentful? That's really not good...I would never want to be a reason you're unhappy in your marriage!
D: Haha, no, of course not! You are awesome and don't make me unhappy, you're just a cool chick! So, come visit?
C: No way I'd be back in time...sorry!
That was the most extreme example (thankfully), but texting certainly allowed for a smile to be brought to my face this weekend, too.
Mascot: Hey beautiful!
Commitment-Phobe: Hey you, how's it going? Are you back in the rainy state?
M: Yup. Was miserable til yesterday and today ain't looking great. How you doing?
C: I've got a cold :( Other than that life's good...going to see a show tonight.
M: Get some matzoh ball soup in ya girl. Sweet! Wanna get married?
C: Since there was matzo ball soup in the same breath as your proposal, I'm going to have to accept.
My favorite technological communication, however, was a Skype date with Cheese, arranged through BBM. After chatting for over an hour, I was nostalgic not only for spending time with him, but for living abroad. It was always such a wonderful adventure roaming the European streets and trying to get by on my own...before meeting up with him and having a picnic of wine and cheese on the nearest bench.
Chatting with him made me realize that I really would do anything to get back across the pond, and I found myself wondering if this is the nicest boy I'll ever meet. He's a wonderful uncle, adores traveling, is teaching himself the guitar, and would never do or say anything to intentionally hurt anyone. He's thinking about taking his last vacation days and popping over for a visit next month...I wonder how that would play out...
