ive accumulated WAY too many picrews of my ocs over the years so i decided to put them to good use and redraw a handful of them! (picrews on the left, redraws on the right)
extremely fun to compare & translate each style into my own, 100% recommend this exercise if you too keep thousands of pictures of your ocs in your pockets at all times,

Devils Peak aka why is it so difficult, just fuck the wizard already
Title comes from @memecastermage who isn’t even in this game but is already sick of the yearning.

Yesterday was one of our shortest sessions apparently but gosh it was so full of LORE and CHARACTER aaa.
As I think of them:
Mrs Rhett has had loveless sex, perhaps even a loveless marriage (?) The concept of sex for pleasure/release seemed foreign
Aust is becoming more open/talking about his past and the suffering he’s endured.
Aust glancing at Kai and himself when someone (I think it was a human or an elf idk) mentions being a minority
Aust watching Kai briefly to make sure she didn’t kill/maim a tiefling sex worker in her mental state
Kai going to Succubi and Incubus and asking specifically for someone elvish (cue gasps and shocked expressions) Kai then straight up explicitly asking for someone who resembles Avarice. She gets a tiefling man but she isn’t fussy.
Avarice getting drunk with Kai, definitely knowing that Kai can drink her under the table.
Avarice drunkenly casting Polymorph on Kai and turning her into a dire dog. Puppy!Kai wrecking the tavern door with her tail wagging, much to Kai and Avarice’s delight. When they’re scolded, Puppy!Kai whines and lies her head next to Avarice
Aust getting Avarice to turn him invisible so HE CAN STEAL BACK THE DAMAGES SHE JUST PAID
Avarice and Kai being expelled to the snow outside. Avarice falls asleep on Kai’s shoulder. Aust has to tell Kai to bring Avarice inside
Mrs Rhett, in her dingy apartment, shared with Melody. Melody being the shitty hippy roommate who cooks pancakes at 2am and has dozens of candles. Some of which were precariously placed close to curtains.
Aust making sure to buy vials of perfume for use on his scarf when we go on sewer investigations; has long been a favourite detail of mine
When Avarice presdigitates then all, it smells of blueberries and vanilla. Kai and Avarice explain what vanilla is like to Aust. Aust and Kai share a common knowledge of honey cakes.
Avarice teaching Kai more Elvish. Kai rolls poorly on her learning check but is saved by Avarice’s high teaching check. Aust’s player jokes that she was distracted
Kai calls Avarice “honey” whilst inebriated. Only Aust notices
THE WHOLE THING WITH AVARICE’s PARENTS. OMG. Kai is a fan of straight up getting rid of them. She also took Avarice’s hand silently, unable to empathise but feeling terrible.
Kai grabs Dad’s hands as he waves them in front of Avarice’s face. Kai is disgusted that he’s not even aware that she’s technically blind.

Dad is Saddened that Kai isn’t gushing over him. Kai is passive aggressive the entire dinner.
Avarice puts a hand on Kai’s forearm to calm/steady her. Kai replies that she’s fine. Aust’s player jokingly moves Avarice’s hand to Kai’s thigh.
Dad offers to fight Kai to get on the same level as her. Kai laughs and replies nonchalantly, saying she’ll do whatever he wants. Avarice is concerned (but probably also a little excited) by the idea of her Dad and her Not-Girlfriend sparring
Avarice mentioning that her Headmistress is attractive is probably the most explicit mention of her sexuality so far
Handtaker got kicked out of said school for sleeping with staff. Aust suggests that idea for Avarice. Kai HATES it, stifles an outburst, then suggests they never bring it up again.
Also like Kai putting her shit aside to focus entirely on what Avarice wants to accomplish/explore.
Kai gets the info that Mishaab might be her Dad. She says that she believes it but wants this convo to occur on consensual terms.
They visit Mishaab’s house. Kai is not a fan of breaking in, after hearing the above. She instead melts ice from statues and lights a firepit to signify her presence and willingness to talk.
(Our DM later said that we were meant to break in. Ah well. So much for respecting private property)
Mishaab is well liked, even adored by the local guards who patrol his house for at least 2 hours after a neighbour report suspicious activity
Avarice’s Dad immediately knowing what is up with Kai, explicitly asking then retracting the question of “so why do you like my daughter? Oh wait that’s obvious”
I can’t remember who said it but like someone said “don’t you want someone to love you? For you to love?” I think in regards to Mishaab but my memory ain’t great. Kai replied that she’s already got someone. Aust asks which one, Kai says yes 😂 (she has someone in both categories. Yes they’re different people)
Melody is established to be very short, even for a gnome. Kai remarks that Charlie is taller than Melody. Aust perceives this as Melody possibly being a child/teenager.
It is said that tieflings are brought here or sometimes killed as they are seen as bad omens. Melody came to Devil’s Peak willingly, implying that she came early in the region’s development or has good relations with her family
Mrs Rhett gets a FAT Melody lore dump. Melody is the only tiefling in her family.
Melody shows an unwillingness to leave Devil’s Peak again, enjoying her work too much (and also now being an NPC). IC, this might be perceived as Melody being traumatised by the events and travel into the mountains; including Aust spotting a murdered tiefling gnome.
We joked that Avarice’s Astral Eye was a ghost bullfrog and that’s canon now, idc if it makes no sense.
