Godwin is the battalion chaplain who ends up sticking around with them as they get sent on some missions because well, everyone knows a chappy wasn't always a chappy, and he knows they're gonna need him.
Story on the inner turmoil of Godwin trying to redeem himself for the things he's done, while simultaneously having to do more fucked up shit, buuuuttt him doing the fucked up shit saves other people from doing the fucked up shit, therrrreeefore, he's redeeming himself by not letting the younger ones turn into what he is?
Of course this doesn't always work out how he'd hope and he can only help pick up the pieces, and sometimes he's the one leading them into temptations (lol @ the Henry+Godwin binge drinking weekend)
Alternating pov's, but primarily Godwin pov.
Probably a Gen fic, but definitely some cuddling... I mean huddling for warmth. Zizka/Katherine mentions. Some hansry pre-relationship feelings. Adder will fuck someone at an inconvenient time.
So this would be a story written in some fake version of a modern Bohemia, with a made up enemy. I'm not capable of making things accurate to how things are IRL in the modern Czech area or military. Definitely going with my own military experience/knowledge of how my military works because I am lazy and have trauma that will accidentally be worked through in this story hahaha
So, good idea? Bad idea? Bad idea but do it anyway because I crave Godwin content?
Also I just have to explain from an army background, the chaplain is usually a totally chill dude. he listens to your problems and helps, he acquires enough cigarettes and soda at the end of a field op for everyone, he's always got a smile on his face and a prayer for you.
But if you sit with him too long around the fire, you learn he wasn't always a chaplain, he allegedly did some fucked up shit in Fallujah in 2007 and the command team is definitely afraid of him.
