16 Nu Metal with Peter Carlone

Put on your red hats and khakis, it's time for our Nu-Metal episode! We discuss this ever-polarizing sub-genre/moment in time with our good pal Peter Carlone of award-winning comedy duo Peter n' Chris, just in time to pick his wedding music! The three of us travel all the way back to the year 2000 (or slightly earlier), where combining misspelled words to make your band name and dressing in weird pants was the order of the day. Discussion includes: the electronic scrapings and Seinfeld bass on Mudvayne's 'L.D.50'; how Limp Bizkit's 'Significant Other' makes Fred Durst seem whiter than the cast of Full House; Korn's 'Follow The Leader' and that time Peter went to a Korn show with a bunch of grandmas; how Linkin Park's 'Hybrid Theory' is as awesome as it is annoying; and Devin loves to hate how much Fraz loves Papa Roach's 'Infest'. Set those Home Alone traps and bleach those anuses, it's time for the GWAR episode! Devin and Fraz have a real swell time talking all things Scumdogs of the Universe, from their discography and origin story to their has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed live act to their appearance on the Joan Rivers Show. This episode's discussion also includes but is not limited to: the GWAR comic book, viking funerals, how the 90's were a decade of farts, which movie Devin saw nine times in the theatre, and just how sweet a GWAR/No Doubt collab would be. Devin spends most of the show under a dark metal cumulous cloud of airborne influenza, but Fraz makes up for it with cool action figure ideas. We make a Slipknot/GWAR comparison. We discuss how GWAR's costumes look like melting Disney mascots. AND we give shout-outs to classy Vancouver musicians Devin Townsend and Woolworm! In short, this one has it all. Why are you my mom? 12 BLACK SABBATH Part 2

It's the second part of our EPIC Black Sabbath episode, and it's a doozy! Devin drops some major car knowledge (Triumph Spitfires, Disco Cars, Ozzy-Mobiles, et al) AND describes his latest run-in with a post-apocalyptic desert space cowboy! Then Fraz sneezes out brain! Eventually, we get around to talking about: Bill Ward's wife's sweet red tights on the cover of Sabotage (1975); how 'It's Alright' from Technical Ecstasy (1976) should have been called 'Invasion of the Flower People'; the fact that Heaven and Hell (1980) would have been EVEN better with a guest appearance from Tom Sizemore; Born Again (1983)'s definitely-not-shocking cover; and how the band that put out 13 (2013) should have been called Sabbath Against The Machine. Plus, 1992's Dehumanizer is hidden gem you should consider thinking about listening to eventually. You know damn well that any podcast about grindcore that starts off with a discussion about Olympic male figure skaters has got to be good. In this episode, we talk Napalm Death (of course), Cattle Decapitation, Nasum, Pig Destroyer and Fuck The Facts (amongst others)! We also try to pronounce 'anthropocene', watch a video of a cow taking a dump on a guy's head, and make references to Launchpad McQuack AND Roch Voisine - all in one show!! More uncomfortable than falling asleep on pile of lock boxes, more terrifying than Kelowna: Land of the Stilt-Walkers, it's the grindcore episode! (Spoiler: the drums are fast.)
