Wow the AI built by humanity to remember them loves humans so much it wants to recreate them! Oh no they forget to teach the AI media analysis. Oh no it read Frankenstein and completely misunderstood it. Oh no where did it get access to flesh
Hey so I just listened to Deviser for the first time and oh my god. Just wow. You'd think I'd be prepared for it after listening to malevolent, but I am never prepared enough for the horrors Harlan Guthrie cooks up. The hardest thing was listening to it in public and trying to not have violent reactions to Harlan screaming and whimpering in my ears. You'd think I'd be used to that by now....
Jokes aside, I really liked the podcast. I love the theme of humanity and what defines it that the story's got going on, which makes it all the more reminiscent of malevolent. This really does feel like an even more fucked up Frankenstein retelling, where it's not clear who is supposed to be Victor and who the monster. On one hand, it was the humans themselves who made Dad, but then Dad himself created humans of his own. Or at least tried to replicate what he thought humans were. So, in a sense, the monster became the scientist. Also, I absolutely ate the biblical references up and I particularly loved the detail of the episodes being named in reference to the 7 days of god's creation. It was an overall great and very underrated short podcast. Absolutely loved binging it on my night walk.
I’m feeling REALLY normal about DEVISER incase you were wondering.

I listened to Deviser this week, which is a sci-fi horror podcast about what happens when bad literary analysis goes unchecked
The line "because we're not in space" made me feel the exact same emotion as "tell the voice in your head that my mother was not a whore"
