Chapter 1 has been released!

Release day is here! It feels like both too much time and not enough has passed since I made my little introduction post almost 2 months ago. I'm so excited but also so nervous to show you what I've been working on! It's a little janky, and definitely needs some more polishing but its out now. I can polish it in my own time and the next update will be cleaner, sleeker, and better! (I hope.)

This release contains the Prologue as well as Chapter 1 of the story. You can:

Choose your origins

Customise your character

Find the first hint to your past

Make some friends (or enemies)

Get some insight into your role as the Grand Vizier's apprentice

Happy Upd8 Day!! We Have More News!

First thing's first, we've received some pretty positive feedback on today's Upd8 - Yay! Thank you all!! We're so glad you're having fun!! Your feedback is greatly appreciated - it really keeps us going!!

Secondly, to mirror this blog, the comic page has now received a Content Warning list within its description!! Obviously, all those intense themes will not start immediately, but they are planned to show up later in the comic. As the description says, Reader Discretion is Advised!!

And thirdly - and arguably most excitingly... We've breached 100 Favorites! Wow!!

hi guys!!! me again!!

this progress update will be relatively short, as i've been hard at work writing chapter two. i took a break from writing the flashbacks that make up the beginning of the chapter to work on the other parts and its coming together super fast!! as for a word count, we are officially 18k words in!!l

my writing process is a bit confusing for some, but i write the easiest on paper, so i write everything in my writing journal, then i type it up into my word processor and edit as i go. does anyone else have huge rushes of inspiration when writing on paper? no? just me ok :D

i feel like i come back with these updates to say the same thing every time :( is there anything specifc you guys want me to add to these updates? i have a snippet coming because i feel like i'm just holding you guys here with nothing but faith and my sporadic drop ins, but i AM WRITING I PROMISE i just work a 9-5 and have to force myself not to go straight to sleep when i get home from work 😭

ANYWAY! i am chugging along happily!! i'm still so thankful you guys even care enough to stay on this journey with me <3

hi guysssss mini update here but one I think you'll be very excited for — LIGHT MODE IS HERE!!

I've gone through and cleaned up the grammar, cleaned up the Codex so its not so overwhelming, and of course, implemented a light mode for you guys. i'm currently about halfway through writing the first flashback for the opening of chapter 2. i have 5 other flashbacks to write, but they won't just be walls of text — theyre going to be playable scenes, so you can feel the same sense of loss and anguish the MC felt, so you can feel immersed in the events of that day with them!! given how long the scenes are going to turn out, i may split chapter 2 into two parts, or put the flashbacks for chapter 2 and the actual events of the chapter into chapter 3.

hey yall.... heyyyyy......

long time no see!!

i have a bunch of asks from people asking one main thing: when is chapter 2 coming out!!!!

honestly guys it's coming out... when i'm finished writing it! i'm trying my best to juggle work, life, and working on nyotani in the small moments i can carve out to do so. i feel like its coming along well, but i am loath to announce any concrete dates in case i don't finish in time and i have to keep you guys waiting for longer than i would like.

how long will the story be? i've planned for 15 chapters! this could be more or less depending on how the story goes, but i'm comfortable with this amount.

i'm really really excited to have you guys meet the rest of the viziers and see your reactions to the upcoming chapter!! so many emotions!! so excited!!

will the codex be clearer? yes... i overshot in the sense that i wanted to add absolutely everythingggg as soon as i launched the game, but now i wanna try and take my time making and improving things as i go along.

eventually, i'd like to take more time polishing and cleaning up the whole set up of the game. im learning how to code as i write this, and the more i learn, the more i want to go back and change a bunch of stuff! also, i feel like the more time i spend, the more my writing changes and improves. i'm in two minds between editing it now or later. im aware you guys want chapter 2, so thats my main focus at present!

current writing progress? i'm around 12k words into chapter 2, without code. im gonna finish writing it and then the coding should be relatively easy <3 i hope <3

if you guys have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!! i promise my next update will be more timely than this one.

third progress update!

the light mode has been fixed!!! it'll come in a mini update i'm planning — one with some tweaks made to code, bugs, and a little rehash-ing of the codex! expect that by the end of the year (which isn't far off omg)

chapter 2 is coming along well, i think. the first part involves the flashback to That Fateful Day. I've been excited to write it for ages ahh!! angst really does have a special place in my heart.. its so much fun to write!! the rest of chapter 2 will involve the MC finding out some info, building more on what you discovered in chapter 1, and maybe meeting some more members of the council hmmmm....

when i can find time, i'm also working on the reactions/scenarios that have been sent in! they take a little time because i really wanna flesh them out, you know? so you guys feel like you're getting real snippets of more than just the story. i'm also doing the RO intros that i forgot to upload back in august/september omg >< adhd is not for the weak guys ><

hi all!! i decided — while making little text posts was quick and easy for me, i prefer making big progress posts like this one instead. (also i like how the banner matches my blogs aesthetic lol) i guess you can call this my first official devlog!! :D

The demo currently stands at around 25.4k words including code, give or take. thats about 12.5k without! i'm still chipping away at the final scene — it's a lot of work as it tests quite a few variables and of course, i have to write out a million different variants of the same scene_:(´ཀ`」 ∠):... i'm also outlining chapter 2 as i finish up with chapter 1, so i can get right into writing it after i've edited/tested and uploaded (eek!!!) the demo.

I'm really excited for you guys to meet some of the cast!! you can meet up to 3 ROs (depending on your choices) and 2 extra characters too. i'm toying with the idea of creating sub-romance options too — their endings will be fixed, unlike the main 6, and the player can choose to accompany them on their journey if they wish, if that makes sense. but anyway!! im getting ahead of myself!! i plan to have the demo released by the end of september. that gives me enough time to clean everything up and make everything super polished!! i know it feels super far away, but i hope you can bear with me until then. i do take scenario asks (and i am working on those too!!) so keep an eye out for that kind of content in the meantime.

the second progress update is here!! i fixed the bug that made the game act weird on mobile, thankfully. work has been taking up a lot of my time, but i've managed to carve out some moments to work on nyotani in the meantime :D.

i'm really excited to show you all what i've been working on, and even though i constantly find more and more ideas of things i need to add to make it more fleshed out and make it more chunky (if that even makes sense) the closer we get to release day, the more i realise that this is only the first demo! i can add more as time goes on! i have time to really develop this the way that i want to!

but yeah. to summarise:

the game runs on mobile just fine

i have more or less finished polishing it

chapter two is in the process of being outlined (in depth. i have a general overarching plot line for the story, but i work better when i have freedom for how i want each chapter to go)

8 days to go before i release it to you all!!

i'm also still working on the emoji requests for the ROs -- i'll publish those as individual posts so i can make them look more pretty haha
