Guess who's changing the map againnnnn

its meeee I'm changing it again I wasn't super happy with how the rivers were set up in central Devterrina- I don't think that main one would drain that far out without sinking into a sort of sea almost, so I shifted them around a bit. The bigger change though, is to the south- with the planet being a kind of eyeball planet I don't think it made a ton of sense to have the desert at the south end of the world be bordered by a large ocean- that would. kick up a lot of storms and make the south not be a desert- so a vast, empty wasteland it shall be instead. The type of wasteland people don't come back from wandering into- even the elves who have adapted to the deep desert don't venture too far south for fear of getting lost and dehydrating while attempting to find your way back. Every time I make a new map of Devterrina. It gets more detailed and the details get smaller. hm

This one went a lot faster, since. It's mostly empty desert. The few cities there are really the only major permanent settlements- and the smaller markers are the generalized locations of some of the marauder groups and caravans- they move around a lot throughout the year, so those are more just representations and reminders for other groups rather than true locations.

I usually go for a more like,,, geographical look for my maps, but I'm now debating going for a political map, make it more obvious which country rules over which regions

Its not a difficult thing to swap between and I've got these set up on separate files so I can update one with changes I make to the other when I'm finished, but I'm wondering which would be better to make the Official Map of the project.

Ccccurrently I'm leaning towards the political map? I like the colors of the Geographical one more but I think the political map would be more useful for clarifying which regions are under control of which kingdoms. Maybe I'll do both? Have the geographical one just for labelling natural features like lakes and forests and mountains and get rid of the town markers (or maybe just leave them unlabeled), then have the Political one to highlight important towns, the disputed regions, the popular roads and trade routes, etc? I dunno, I guess we'll see :p

Both of these maps are the low quality versions I'll be able to post places, I'll have a clearer, more defined version available once I'm actually done making these. Also, these maps don't mark Every Single Town/Village/Municipality/Urban center in Devterrina, they're just there to mark cities that have important roles in the sociopolitical climate of Devterrina. Some of them are important cultural or trade centers, some have important military positions and roles, some are political hubs, etc etc. I'll be making a detailed list of these towns and why they're important to go with a longer post when I'm done, and I've already got some notes in the works.

Coming to a bit of an issue, if I export this map at a lower quality you can't read. anything but if I do export it at a quality high enough to read things. I can't upload it to discord/tumblr for file size reasons So I'll probably have a lower quality version posted here, with a higher quality version linked to my google drive ig when I'm done.
