I've been harboring this hc about Dewdrop as a fire ghoul. Finally put it in writing.
Everyone in the abbey has this idea that Dew is weak. Emotionally fragile. A fuse waiting to be lit. An inferno seconds from self-immolation. No one could go through what he has been through and be okay. Because he was impulsive and flared easily, they believed this to be true. They were sure he wasn’t okay.
That concept, while on the surface, seemed logical, but couldn’t be further from the truth.
Dewdrop had been through it all. Fought tooth and nail and claw through the fire and emerged on the other side stronger than he ever was.
Possessing an iron will to live, and to protect those around him. Those he loved. His pack.
Because he had the sheer will to persist, Dew was extremely powerful. And extremely dangerous.
Others would do well to remember that. The ghouls had an idea, but rarely did they get a chance to see Dewdrop in his full element, the fire ghoul he was born to become, go to lengths to defend them.
At night, Dewdrop sleeps on the outside edge of the bed, curled protectively around Rain, comfortable and sweet on the surface, but if anyone were to enter, they’d be shredded without question before they got anywhere near Rain. The water ghoul was his to protect, and he’d do it with a ferocity no one would see coming.
During the day, he runs his tongue across his fangs, dreaming of the taste of blood. Willing and ready to sink his teeth into anyone who comes to harm his pack. His golden eyes scanning and focusing on anything unusual. He’s alert and aware of everything going on around them.
When he does sink his teeth into Rain later, it’s a different need being met. The fire and passion he brings to their bond is unmatched. He’s careful not to burn the water ghoul, but is one the of the only people he’ll let see his true self. Flayed open and willing to share a part of himself, if only so Rain knows the extent of his love. He’ll give him everything he has to ensure he knows.
Everything he gives to Rain, he does with a sincerity that is as deep as the fire within him. They might play with others, but Dew loves Rain with a bond that is stronger than anyone knows. Rain feels it, knows that Dewdrop is his, but doesn’t know that Dew would destroy anyone who came between them.
Those who view Dew as weak are sorely mistaken. His sharp teeth and razor like claws would remind them otherwise that the fire ghoul is the strongest, the smartest, the most willing to return to the pit for them.
It is why Satan allowed him this gift, the internal hellfire of a true fire ghoul.
