The first day. We hiked up from the valley underneath giant sequoias, letting the distant sound of the highway fade into the wind. By the time we’d climbed a few thousand feet I was getting tired, my back muscle has injured and the trail was deserted. And I know I’d do it all again and more for a view like that.
