Deweys 24-hours- Readathon

It's time again for Dewey's 24-hour-readathon.

Starting tomorrow, 24th April 2021; 8 am EST we'll read for 24 hours straight. Or at least attempt to. You can check your start time here, this page also includes an awesome countdown.

I'm actually very hyped for this event and am prepping myself with food and lots of books to read. I'm excited to see, how many books I'll get through.

It's not just about the reading (but that's obviously a huge part), it's about the fun we have together. It's a huge online party for nerds and book-lovers and who doesn't need a little fun in these times?

Dewey’s 24-hour-readathon - Hour 7

It's nearly 8 pm here and I finished my second book (The last girl by Goldy Moldavsky) a few minutes ago and it was okay, I didn't enjoy it to much but I didn't hate it.

I really need to drink more, I only drank a cup of coffee over the last hours and I know I'll have a headache if I don't improve on that, so I'll get a bottle of tea ready now to enjoy while I'm browsing a little and start my next read.

I've decided to pick up Small Gods by Terry Pratchet. I'm all for some absurd fantasy. It's my first book by Pratchet and it was recommended to me a lot, we'll see how I like his strange world.

Are you getting tired? So far I feel pretty good.

Dewey’s 24 hour read-a-thon - Update 3

We’re closing in on the 12 hour mark and I finished my second book. 

The Return was a good read, some things were pretty obvious but it didn’t do anything to the creepy-factor. But I’m creeped out fast anyway. I had to turn on all the lights... :D I guess that’s a good sign. 

I also drank some coffee and will do some light stretching before diving into the next book. 

I’ve decided to read some classics this year and after finishing Poe Party again last week I’m in need for some HG Wells. Finished The Time Mashine recently as well and am now going to read The Invisible Man.

Dewey’s 24 hour read-a-thon - Update 1

It has finally started. I’m a little late to the party, I got up to late and had to eat something first. I’ve now started with Rainbow Rowells Pumpkinheads. I’m really excited about it. But first I’ll answer the survey here.

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I’m from Germany!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I don’t really have a specific stack for this readathon, I’ll just try to read whatever looks good on my TBR, but I’M excited to read some Sci-Fi today.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I was really looking forward to the above mentioned bowl and it was delicious. Originally it was planned as dinner, but I was just so hungry. 

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

What can I tell you? I haven’t participated in a readathon in a very long time and I’m going to find out if I can still read a whole 24 hours. 

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Not my first but the last one was years ago. I remember that I went to read in bed at around 3 in the morning, which was a mistake. So I won’t go to bed unless I really need to get a few hours sleep.
