I know what you are Circe
the return of her pre-reset outfit!
Assorted Pre/Post-Reset Thoughts
Pre-Reset Xan: - Lecturer at GEARS - Still on fire and requires regular medical attention to mitigate and manage both the physical and mental impacts of his condition - Because he's literally on fire, he wears a specialised hazmat suit 24/7. - Plays up his antagonistic relationship with Warlic intentionally and is often involved with missions that Warlic wants plausabile deniability for. - Doesn't pilot anymore and typically fills a mission control role but is more than happy to throw hands if asked to. - Is the Twin's main teacher and surpervises most of their off the books missions prior to open war alongside Oddessa -Loosely associated with Runehawk, his flames came from a mana-drive accident. - A curmudgeon that will never admit how much he cares for the students under his wing
Amadeus/Valen Pulchure/Sepulchure: -Also a lecturer at GEARS -Resident Char clone, complete with a mysterious agenda, false name, red mecha, and renown as a talented pilot - Has a complicated relationship with both the Shadowscythe and Arthuria -Like Sys-Zero he is often away on missions for Warlic -As a result, many of his lectures are pre-recorded and frequently interupted by Lynn. -the contrast between his lecturer and father personas makes him popular among students - Is often associated with Wolfblade, and many house members seek to emulate him
Post-reset Circe: -Has a fondness for art that she tries to keep a secret. -Victoria found out after watching her critique one of the palace paintings when she thought she was alone. -Victoria has promised not to tell anyone about this.
The Queen's Spy
From her hidden vantage, Circe watched as the various nobles of Greenguard milled about Victoria’s court, carrying out their business. She watched as Lords Granvile and Cavendish negotiated agreements with their peers. Concessions in exchange for recognising their claim over a small piece of land that they’d been feuding over ever since the Rose pulled out of the region. Apparently one of them had gifted the land to Jaania as a sign of good faith. Now that the Rose is gone, the land is without owner and so they bicker, uncaring of how meaningless the land is, nor the difficulties it would cause for the refugees fleeing the ongoing devastation of the deadlands.
The story of how Circe went from the mercenary we met in Book 1, to Victoria's spy devoted spy in Book 3.
It's an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for a good while, so hopefully it comes out well.
