Arrival: 12/09/19- Littlefee body for Cecilia!!
(Whew, okay- holiday rush is settling down for a hot minute. Let’s post stuff!!) This is not my first planned hybrid, but the first one I have in my hands!
After listings tempting me three times, I got this (edited because I wrote the wrong sculpt lol) 2016 WS Littlefee Soo Dark Elf off ebay for a really good price. I originally dismissed this option because I didn’t like the thought of having a loose head just laying in the box, but after lurking I realized loose LTF bodies aren’t the most common, and white skin LTF aren’t very popular either- and after some thinking, I realized I really don’t love this sculpt at all, so it was actually really easy to plop it in the box and consider it an extra “gift” head. It might make a fun project to do a faceup on later, but yeah!
Good news- head fit great! I spent the whole time worrying about needing to mod the neck or head a lot... I don’t know why, I did my research and LTF is 6cm and DFA is 5.8cm in neck size. It was nearly perfect. There is minimal bulging and the neck hole peeks out if it’s tilted too far, but it’s nothing compared to what I was worried about. (the horror stories about Minifee neck mechanisms may have got to me, lmao) I’ve read that taking the headcap off LTFs makes other hybrid heads sit really low on the neck... but because the DF-A head has a pretty shallow area for the neck to sit, and the DF-A yosd necks seemed really long to me, so it worked out PERFECTLY proportionally.
Bad news is that I got a bit overconfident about FL’s white resin being super white, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized it was still a bit creamy!! I know she’s from 2016 so I was prepared for modest yellowing (though the listing mentioned this doll was 99% boxed) but the inside is completely even in tone to the outside, so.. I think it hasn’t yellowed much, if at all. I don’t know if soaking her in baking soda/toothpaste concoctions will do much. (If any fairyland experts want to weigh in on this, please feel free to chat with me about it!)
So for a moment, I was simultaneously excited and let down- had a rush of of “oh god was this a good idea? did i get over-eager? should i have done more research? this was a bad impulse buy after all!! I should never buy a doll without a plan ever again!!! i’m no good at hybrids!!!! i’m a bad person wasting money!!! ahhhh ahhhh;;;”
But after I put her head on and some temp eyes in... She sat there staring at me like an irresistible kitten, and my boos kept wailing about how cute she was. The main selling points for me were that I really love the LTF’s chubby fingers, the cute legs and feet, and... they’re sooo short!!!! Oh my god! I saw a comparison of her next so some other YOSDs and shrieked BUT SEEING IT IN PERSON NEXT TO OLIVE IS LIKE EEEEP!!
SO I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW. I dressed her with some things I had (she does actually fit into a few barbie things, aww) I just couldn’t put her down. She’s so small and cute and exactly what I hoped the LTF body would be.
I have settled on trying to blush her head to match her body! I’m a bit nervous but I think it’ll be easier than I think... I still need to settle on her faceup/wig/eyes and curate her moodboard a bit more, so I’ll try to take it easy and not rush her. I also think I’ll buy her more hands because hururrgghhh cute +_+
I also crossposted this on Den of Angels!
