having DFAS is so odd to me bro
like wdym I, ME, MYSELF, has a condition with under 500 recorded cases??
the definition is “Developmental Foreign Accent Syndrome (DFAS) is an exceptionally rare speech disorder where a child develops vocabulary and grammar normally, but speaks with a pronunciation and rhythm that listeners perceive as a foreign accent. Unlike classic Foreign Accent Syndrome, it occurs from early childhood or adolescence without any history of a stroke, head trauma, or sudden brain injury.”
basically from my experience, when i get stressed or anxious or i’m getting like i dunno interrogated by the police or its just literally random my accent like rapidly switches, sometimes i can control it to like make random people leave me alone but most of the time it’s super duper hard to explain to random people, it’s pretty embarrassing at times but most of the time it doesn’t really matter!
basically this is the average conversation:
me: “(born accent) omg yeah so i was (fucking british accent??) like ‘oh my gosh why are you even talking about? you’re so stupid!!’”
bro #1: “hold up hold up holdddd up!! what was the switch??”
me: “(norweigian accent) what are you talking about?”
bro #1: “how are you changing accents so fast?!”
me: “(japanese accent) i didn’t even do anything!! (born accent) what are you talking about?”
