Day 8: Pigeon

Today's Fursona Species is the Pigeon! I chased this based off someone who recently followed me, @aflockofpigeons because this account cracks me up

Found everywhere apart from Antarctica, Pigeons are known as "Sky Rats" but this could be further than the truth.

These highly intelligent birds can recognise themselves, problem solve, and were used to deliver messages in Wars.

There are over 350 species of pigeons! The species you see the most would be the Rock Pigeon!

In the wild, pigeons live 3-6 years. City pigeons often face more hazards and may not live as long, normally 2-3 years.

These birds are natural pest controls, consuming bugs for us, eating food scraps, and more!

Day 3: Shoebill Stork

Today's Fursona Species is the Shoebill Stork!

Found in freshwater swamps and wetlands of central tropical and East Africa, the Shoebill Stork is a prehistoric looking bird.

These birds can reach a height of 5 ft (152cm) and a wingspan of 8ft (2.4m)!

Shoebills are serially monogamous, meaning they stick with one mate during breeding season. Both parents take turns looking after the chicks

These magnificent birds are considered Vulnerable. Their biggest threats being Major threats include habitat destruction from swamp drainage, pollution, fishing, and illegal wildlife trade.
