Free at Last?
Although another murder had occurred two days ago now, Monokuma hadn’t come to announce a new floor. A look at your maps showed no more lifts—was this it? Were you constrained to these four buildings now, for the rest of your life?
The bear finally called you all to the Floor E foyer in the evening. He looked from person to person, seeming to ponder the number left, before he spoke.
“All right, bastards. At this point, I think I’ve accomplished what I’ve set out to do.”
As he looked back up, a horrible screeching sound preceded a series of clunks that echoed through the cavernous room. You exchanged looks with your classmates, but no one seemed to have anything more than suspicions.
“Oh, that? That was the front door’s lock mechanism.”
“You’re all free to go.”
“Of course...”
“If you leave now, you will never know who I am or why I had you play this game. You’ll never know why your memories of your school days together were taken, or why your classmates had to die. But if you are curious...”
“Stay just a while longer. We’ll have one last trial, and I’ll let you bastards figure me out, if you can.”
As serious as the bear had been, he suddenly burst into his signature laugh.
“You all know by now what it takes to get a trial, right?”
“That’s right. Let’s have one more murder, just for old times’ sake, eh? Upupu!”
“So get killing! It’s time for the grand finale!”
