That’s Usually the thought process of a man who didn’t get out much in terms of food. He comes to the convenience store to specifically attempt to venture out, but there’s a strange pickiness to his behavior as he investigated the variety of chips on the shelves. He diagnosed it as not being able to branch out as a child and only ever being left to choose his own food -- which then lead to him eating the same things over and over again.
In the morning it would be a bowl of rice. For lunch, it would be some type of fish. For dinner, it was always beef, eggs, and more rice. There were times he would eat soup with his rice as it had become a habit once he had moved to Korea about 5 years ago. The snacks he ate were all imported from Japan, but he was out and now came the struggle of finding something that would suit his taste. He was fond of salty foods and usually tried to get some type of dried fish. Today, he wanted to be adventurous so when he picked up a regular bag of Cheetos he told himself he would learn to enjoy it. He made sure to grab the small pack of banana milk too that everyone here seemed to crave.
(“Tired today too, huh boy?”)
Those words were mumbled in soft Japanese as he looked at the clerk with the name ‘Howon’ written in Korean letters on the name tag. He’d be lying if he said he came here only for the minimal amount of snacks he grabbed. He was actually taking a survey of the gentleman every time he walked in and observed a pattern. There were bags under his eyes and he had quite the attitude when it played out that way. It was mostly when there were too many questions asked and so he dove into his pocket and removed the money out of his wallet. He paid for his items and before he left he pulled out a little clear container with a single pill in it. He placed it on the counter.
“Take this. I will be back again in a few days to see how you’re doing. You’re too young to be this tired.”
