Accident.
@dhnjaehwa
It happened so fast. One moment she was walking down the street heading home, still wearing her dark makeup from work and the next thing she knew her foot slipped as she stepped off the curb. She was ready to hit the curb with full force but her hands automatically went to catch the first thing it grabbed.
Unfortunately it had to be a man walking the opposite side of her that she accidentally falls on. It was also a thankful moment that they both didn’t fall fully onto his back and her literally on top of him. It was as quick as a snap, staring at the other with wide eyes but not moving away from him because her heart was beating so fast. Lord that scared the crap outta me.
Then of course the moment he spoke, Jaehwa realized how they looked in the middle of the side street with people looking at them both. Now it was just pure embarrassment. Their position was a little to intimate looking for the public eye.
“I can’t say that I’ve ever been in this kind of position before.”
Those words made her glare at him but it registered that she needed to get up, “I can’t say the same.” She got up fast on her feet, realizing the pants and her knees ripped and stung from the contact with the asphalt. Jaehwa held a hand to the stranger with the glare gone, “I’m so sorry. You’re not not hurt are you.” Looking at his form for anything noticeable other than he was super handsome. Of course my fucking luck.
Perhaps reading and walking wasn’t the best idea when walking down a busy street. He was reading up on indigenous plants in the area. Even though he’s been in South Korea for 5 years, he was still positive he hadn’t come across everything that was growing in the different regions. It would be difficult for him to explore everything, so he was on the path of checking off plants he’s already noted and circling locations for future expeditions. He had his reading glasses edging the tip of his nose while his pen was tucked away behind his right ear always threatening to fall off as he never really secured it in place long enough. That was because he was always taking notes and underlining certain information that he would need for later.
When he was knocked off balanced and jetted onto the concrete, he could feel his entire back thrum with pain. He had hit his tailbone harder than anyone would have anticipated while his book had been flown into a puddle he had barely missed. He had no idea where his glasses had scurried off too as he winced in pain, he blinked his eyes open to see a women pressing into his chest cavity and restricting the air he already didn’t have. His comment was meant to be funny, but perhaps it was ill-placed with the way she seemed to rush off of him as soon as their eyes met and she glared at him. Sorry?
He grabbed her hand to be polite and slowly got himself on his feet. His back ached and he placed his hand over the area that hurt the most. He had to make a slow attempt to stand up straight. He was only close to his mid-thirties so he shouldn’t have a problem recovering - but that angle really felt worse than it probably had looked. “I’m just an old man. I’ll be fine.” Another joke that wasn’t entirely funny yet again. With slow steps, he grabbed at his now wet book with his hand still on his back. His eyes were at knee level when he noticed the rip in her jeans. “Are you okay? You hit the ground pretty fast.” I think.
