Josh sings 80′s pop, Neku rolls his eyes, Josh tries to get him to join.

Josh hates it when Neku spends money on him, cuz like, I am the Composer you don’t need to do this. Josh also just tries to utterly spoil Neku rotten and does not allow protests good luck Neku.

Which one would ask the other to dance

Josh. He might not even ask, he might just grab Neku and pull him into a dance.

Which one fell in love first

Josh has been hardcore crushing since the Game, Neku fell more slowly, there’s never a single real instance where they definitively can go “this is when I fell in love”

Which one is the red oni and which one is the blue oni

Neku is the red, Josh is the blue. Neither of them super fits the roles perfectly, but in general, that is how they fall.

Which one cries first when they fight

Josh if at all possible, refuses to cry, ever. Neku would probably end up crying first, while Josh holds back all reaction as much as he can, even when in private. It’s very rare, seeing him cry.

Which one would spoil the other silly on their anniversary

Watch out Neku, Josh would plan an extravagant outing (and you might get pushed off a building). He would buy Neku everything, take him out to eat, do anything Neku wants. 

Which one would steal the other’s clothes

Josh steals all of Neku’s clothes because they are big and comfy and feel nice. Josh’s might be too small for Neku though.

Which one wants to do all the cute couple things

Josh. He is literally the most romantic sap ever to be honest, like, oh my god, once you get past his abrasive outer wall, it’s all sap.

Which one wakes up in the middle of the night and is afraid of waking the other up so they just watch their partner sleep until they get tired

Both of them. They both have nightmares, and being by the other helps. Sometimes they’ll wake up together on the same nights, other times it’s kinda off and on, who wakes up.

Beat tries to insist on this, because he wants to prove he can make it, and that his parents were wrong. Josh will respect that, but if it’s urgent he will step in, maybe not with money, but he will do what he can.

Which one would ask the other to dance

Beat is the one dragging Josh into dancing more often than not.

Which one fell in love first

It’s hard to say. Josh is probably the one who realized he was in love first, but it was sorta a slow mutual fall. Beat is the one who confesses first tho.

Red is Beat, blue is Josh, no doubt about that.

Which one cries first when they fight

Beat would. Josh doesn’t like crying, and he tries his damn hardest not to. He shuts off his emotions instead of risking letting them leak out.

Josh is the type to spoil Beat with big fancy gestures, but Beat spoils Josh with lots and lots of affection

Which one would steal the other’s clothes

I’m just trying to picture Beat attempting to wear my short skinny child’s clothing. Beat’s makes great comfy wear for Josh, but Beat probs wouldn’t ft into Josh’s haha.

Which one wants to do all the cute couple things

Both? They’re super both saps but Beat’s sappiness allows Josh to not be the super sap of the couple so it evens out. They take turns haha

Josh is the one that wakes up more often, and Beat insists that he’s allowed to wake him up if need be, but he doesn’t want to disturb Beat or be too needy.

an itch that can’t be scratched.

It wasn’t the fact that, while he had painstakingly orchestrated every single component--even scribbles written down as parts of a script--of his master plan all those years ago, the plan blew up in his face, that was the most surprising.  No, what was most surprising was the very tool he used to implement the whole process ended up taking the place of the person he betted against.   And yes, while it was meant to be “temporary”, it still provided the shock of the century.  Perhaps even the millennium, the jury was still out.

And it wasn’t too shocking that they got along for the most part.  After all, they had been effective partners in the game, and trust your partner goes a long way.  What was perhaps the most shocking, and truly horrifying when he dwelled on it for too long--but he rarely did, because observing weaknesses and actual thoughts like that were problematic--was that there was some semblance of a friendship after all these years.  Even if he was the most insufferable boss to exist (which he knew, too).  When it came down to it, he was just genuinely surprised Neku was still around.  Any other person would have taken the first train out of Shibuya.  Any sane person would have outright refused the job offer, Joshua often mused.  But Neku was a rarity.  Which made him such an exceptional proxy in the first place. Yet, after all these years, of growing older and developing an unspoken level of trust that mirrored the game, there was still an itch.  Itch likely wasn’t the right word, but it was the closest Joshua could get to describing it.  Something was off.  Something wasn’t exactly right.  Something was nagging at the back of his mind.  And he didn’t like it.  He didn’t like not knowing things, especially when they were his own things.   And that itch had been growing increasingly lately (maybe it was the season?  the cold? the holidays?) to a point where it was grating on his nerves. Which is probably why, on such a fine day, Joshua was more insufferable than usual.  To be exact, he was curled up on the edge of a couch in the Pad, dangling a piece of string with something on the end of it, above the glass floor, utterly tormenting his poor “pets.”  It wasn’t a game week, and there weren’t any pressing matters to attend to, so maybe it was the boredom getting to him. Or maybe it was that itch.  Either way, he was doing his best to annoy everyone, and everything, around him until they felt just as uncomfortable as he did.
