So why the hell did you even respond to me?

Because it's my post and I was a bit shocked that you started swearing about it. I'm not angry or anything, especially not about the name. I'm just pissed that you won't listen when I'm trying to explain something.

I’ve literally NEVER heard of the word Smoutebollen man, and I’m 100% Dutch Boyfriend has also never heard of it either....

So, I have to calm my tits bc I used 'fucking' once, but the way you responded was completely calm? Right, okay. And as far as I know, using a hyperbole doesn't mean that you can just go ahead and yell 'fuck you' at people. That's hurtful, not just a funny exaggeration.

And I have family and friends all over the Netherlands, and some use oliebollen and others use smoutebollen. When I go to Maastricht, there's one stand that calls it the one name, and another that calls it the other name. It's a personal preference or habit, not a rule. Just because wikipedia says something, doesn't mean that it's completely correct. Just because you or your boyfriend haven't heard of it, doesn't mean that it's not true.

If you would've taken the time, you would've seen that we've already established that both words are used in BOTH countries, depending on the region where you live. The word 'smoutebollen' comes from 'smout', also known as 'reuzel', which is the animal fat that the 'bollen' used to be fried in. Also, the Netherlands and Belgium used to be one regio and the dish is widespread over BOTH countries. And next time you want to swear that much, please do so about your own fucking incompetence in research.
