[NEW REVIEW] "The Lost Boys" (1987) ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ . . Rating: R Genre: Horror, Mystery & Suspense Runtime: 97 minutes . . REVIEW: The 80s answer to the vampire genre which takes us on quite the entertaining and if sometimes bizarre journey. The film has a variety of genres mixed together. It could be argued that it tries to focus on so many it falls a bit short on each, more so than it could have. However, it could also be argued that because there’s a slice of various genres there’s more or less a little something for everybody to some degree. I initially thought it was trying to be a parody on the horror genre and if this was the case then I think it did a good job. Although, if it did think certain scenes were supposed to be scary…I have to question the film a little bit. Assuming it was taking the parody approach to vampirism, the whole film was entertaining from start to finish, introducing some classic superstitions to aid a vampire-infected person, while also introducing some new ones. The plot felt a little rushed. Jumps were being made that felt too easy guesses for people to be making on the spot. More guesswork and calculations should have otherwise been suggested before arriving at the problem. Sometimes it just felt like things only the audience would know and not the characters yet. Maybe this was just me. It also felt spoon fed to audiences in parts. It was an iconic 80s cast I think. Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Kieffer Sutherland, Diane Weist – I’ve come to associate all these people with 80s movies and to have them all in the one was fun. Kieffer Sutherland is a great man for playing villains. An enjoyable watch all in all. . . #moviereview #movies #movienight #movieday #blog #blogger #blogpost #films #filmreview #review #80s #horror #mystery #vampires #kieffersutherland #coreyfeldman #coreyhaim #dianneweist #1980s #superstition #holiday #vacation #suspense #adventure

They don't get any closer than this. Big sisters don't always know best. The night before their childhood home is to be turned over to new owners, the Ellis sisters decide to throw one last bash. Though a mini SNL reunion, I found it funny (I mean, #TinaFey and #AmyPoehler, come on. for the record - think it's better than Baby Mama) and it was interesting to see them do a kind of role reversal, Fey's usually the party mom, and Poehler's the wilder one, so the ending where Kate learns that being the party mom when they were younger wasn't always fun for Maura is even sweeter, i mean the ending was a big fuzzy blanket but knowing that Kate learned that lesson was nice (I still don't know why Kate's daughter had such a problem with her, I can understand not wanting to tell Kate things because they'd make her angry, but keeping things secret and not just telling the truth right away, especially about something like where your child is or if they're safe, usually makes that person waaay angrier than if they'd just been told right away). Most of the characters were funny (if a bit one dimensional) from their parents, #DianneWeist and #JamesBrolin, to their former classmates, #MayaRudolph, #JohnLeguizamo, #RachelDratch, #SamanthaBee, and #KateMcKinnon, etc....A bunch of funny one liners and scenes: shopping with Brayla, the nail place with Hae-Won trying to get each to say the others name correctly, flirting with the neighbor guy, at the grocery store with Brinda, any of the scenes with #JohnCena, them reading from their journals, seeing their 80's decorated rooms...jealous. Also, omg all the things that went wrong at the party are exactly why I rarely host anything...smh. Definitely not a groundbreaking piece of cinema, but I found a lot of parts funny. #ssmovieof2016 #comedy #family #IkeBarinholtz (heellloooooo) #BobbyMoynihan (oy, your character, Kate was right, immediately exhausting. drugs didn't even help.) #GretaLee #SantinoFontana #BrittLower #MattOberg #DanByrd #EmilyTarver (omg Brayla😂) #HeatherMaterazzo #AnnHarada #AdrianMartinez #ScottDrummond #MadionDavenport writer: #PaulaPell director: #JasonMoore movie of 2016 number 58) #Sisters
