Never mind
Diaries
Old notebooks and diaries are like forgotten friends. You shared your thoughts that meant the most to you; the secrets which you didn't want to confide to anybody. After few years if you find those, it will remind the stories you shared and show you a glimpse of your old self. From ditched classes, the first lie, that bully of your class, the long summer break, the first crush, first love...and the first kiss. Heartache and lonely nights - both in good and bad times it has been with you. Years passed and you've moved on.There's hardly any time for the old forgotten friends in life. But taking some time would be great way to reconnect with your own self. You will be surprised to see how strong you are; how far you have come. You are more than what you thought of yourself.
did it hurt at all, when you had packed your bags and i shut the door as i fell down on the floor sobbing, screaming? i know you heard my desperate gasps for air. did you feel some wicked satisfaction in having the power to wreck me with just a few words? my aunt took me to the store today, she said she wanted me to get some air, but the only air i can fathom is the cigarette smoke that fills my lungs. that's what i've been doing all day, smoking. and when i've not been smoking, i've been in bed, comforted by a cat and a dog that doesn't know why the tears won't stop running. in the store, i couldn't stand, i couldn't walk. i had to hold onto the trolley to not fall down screaming again. you broke me into a million tiny pieces and i'm not sure i'll ever recover from this. from you.

Teaching English: Day 1
Date: 12th October 2013
Total hours: 2
Time: 09:00-11:00
On the very first day of my English teaching. I reached the orphanage Alamat Rumah Anak Yatim Lambaian Kasih Sungai Penchala at 8:45. I was introduced to my supervisor and the administration of the orphanage.
Once the introduction had taken place we then proceeded to meeting the children my classmate and I were going to teach. We both took an individual test for each of them. Most of the students were extremely shy and knew little to no English at all. The communication between them and myself was very limited and was mostly was conducted by gestures.
The test was a long process on it's own as it was an individual reading test, using the The San Diego Quick Assessment of Reading Ability test. Wherein we had to note down all the words that a student could not read and when they started getting very frustrated or could not read more 5 words in a row the test would end. Each word they read correctly would earn them 1 point.
From the results we divided all the children into 3 groups:
Higher Level: These were the students who had gotten at least 30 points for the test
Middle Level: These were students who had gotten less than 30 points for the test.
Lower Level: These were students that could not give the test at all or had gotten less than 10 points.
I was given the Higher Level students as I cannot speak Malay at all and communicating with the ones with the most familiar with English will allow me to teach them more effectively than those with a poorer English. Essentially I was given 12 students.
My goal is to teach them how to read and understand English, how I am going to conduct this can only be decided once I start to thoroughly understand where they stand as English speakers and evaluate their personalities and behavior and form an appropriate plan.
