the new knives out movie
cinematography??? in my rian johnson picture???
(a little hitchcockian innit + that scene with the vertigo effect i dont mind it at all)
jk, jk, im sure he is great at it in general, i just don't remember it being as polished in the 2 previous films.
well, definitely turned out to be one of my favorite watches in a long time.
i haven't seen challengers (yet?) but i have seen and appreciated josh o'connor in god's own country a long time ago. you could say i'm somewhat of an og joshoconnorhead. unsurprisingly he is very good in this, very earnest and comforting
like let me in that father jud group meeting!! maybe a hug from father jud would fix me
he was also very good what a detestable man!!! what an awful dude. awesome performance
i really liked the benoit blanc introduction scene, very fun and cool use of lighting
but i liked the very intentional use of lighting&framing&camera work in the entire movie (not to praise #movie for the bare minimum but...)
let's goooo!!!! (do you see the cross reflected in her eyes????)
so the mystery. it really got me thinking about what i care and dont care about in a mystery plot. im sure it varies for everyone but i don't mind it too much if the resolution is a little (or a lot??) far-fetched or if i already guessed who the culprit is from early in the movie, as long as it gives me something else to keep me interested, like discovering how and why
can also be that the story is really about something else, and there's depth to be found elsewhere, maybe in the characters
which i think is one of the strengths of the knives out series (though i cannot remember glass onion gun to my head sorry)
in conclusion, very good watch. had a great time
