Soft Shoulder must be one of Tempe, Arizona's most known bands. We first posted about them in 2015, and they released new material as recently as 2023. Their Discogs page (their profile states, "No-Wave / Junk-Kraut from thee Sonoran Desert with satellite members in Oakland, Montreal, Berlin, etc.") boasts 33 releases. That said, this band is still decidedly under the radar. There is no entry at all on AllMusic. I did find several references to the band on Maximum Rock N Roll.
Our initial post mentioned both Eddy Current Suppresion Ring and Diat. There is a lot of noise here - but I would say this is closer to The Fall, Spray Paint and Blank Realm. These songs are short though. I was surprised how quickly each side of the LP ended.
Soft Shoulder serve as the vehicle for some of the music of James Fella. This is released on Gilgongo Records (which I think was started by Fella).

idk man like I always felt Hawks was the revealer in the Todoroki drama. That he’d be more a messenger and prophet, and the name reveal was so on point with that with Keigo basically being ‘reveal enlightment’ or ‘truth teller’. It’s the name you’d give a prophet character, and Hawks are messengers to Apollo, the god of truth and prophecy (and the Sun).
But, damn, I never considered until Thief Takami that he had a part in this story, in the formation of Touya Todoroki into becoming Dabi, and now it just seems too inevitable that he is. And, fuck, the richness of that???? It’s amazing, these sort of threads. So I know everyone wants the Reveal already but it’s clearly on its way but let the pieces fall into place. The amount of depth and different threads in this are already amazing, we should just appreciate how complex and fascinating it is.
DIAT is really, really something on the level of being a Greek Tragic Epic and I’m glad we’re just getting more and more rather than confirmation.
