a small part of him felt a flash of cold run in his veins. what was the truth? was this about them, the illusion they'd been operating under where it seemed there was more to it than just close friends. that it was actually not as serious as it was becoming to Dick. or was it something else? was he hiding things in the dark much like Dick was, were they both standing on opposite sides without realizing it? he understood that he might be able to strike a deal like he had done with Crane, but, Crane had done his best to protect him when he was younger (and still did to this day) and he'd become almost a type of second father to him.
could things still be possible with Nathan, then? if that was the case? he was more than willing to try, he always had been.
