Some typical German sweets & candies

Here's a list of some typical sweets and candies from Germany. Some are more well-known than others. If i can, i'll leave links to where you can buy some if you'd like to try any of these (on US Amazon & European online shops, if you live elsewhere you might have to do some googling)

Böhme Fruchtkaramellen:

Every German knows these sweets, but no one knows their name. Well i did some research and apparently they're called "Böhme Fruchtkaramellen". They're little flat fruit chews with lemon, orange, cherry, and raspberry flavour. This shop ships them to all of Europe (maybe even worldwide, i'm not sure).

Knoppers:

These are milk and hazelnut cream filled wafers. They are available here and on Amazon.

Nimm2 & Lachgummis:

These are literally called "Take2" and "laugh gummies". There are different kinds of Nimm2 sweets: Lachgummi, nimm2 (yellow and orange hard bonbons with liquid filling), nimm2 soft (fruit bonbons with liquid filling), and more.

These are real OG sweets for me, cause my grandad always used to have a couple of the yellow and orange Nimm2 in his pockets to give to me when i was little.

Haribo:

Most of you probably know Haribo already. They're a German company from Bonn who offer tons of different fruit gummies. Their most famous sweets are the Gummibären and Goldbären.

My personal favourites are the Berries, Primavera, Bunte Schnecken, and the frogs.

Dickmann:

These are also kind of famous online because of their names, but in German it literally means "fat man" or "thick man". They are basically chocolate-covered, almost liquid (?) marshmallows standing on a wafer.

They're available in this online shop, but i didn't find them on US Amazon (maybe they're available on other countries' Amazons).

Ahoj Brause:

The original Ahoj Brause is a powder you can put in water to make flavoured sparkling water. You can get them with raspberry, lemon, orange, and woodruff flavour. They're available in this online shop.

RIP to Racer, Champion, Pioneer and most importantly a true Gentleman, Dick Mann. . When I began working on my project “1” I asked my Father and Kenny Roberts who I should photograph. Without hesitation they both said “Dick Mann!” . Thanks to my Pops, I was able to spend some time with Dick and photograph him at his home back in 2012 and It is a day I will never forget. Dick had no idea what he was getting himself into and figured I would take a couple photos and be on my way, but boy was he mistaken. After about 4 hours of listening to his amazing stories and watching my Dad listen intently with a smile on his face to one of his childhood heroes, Dick asked if I was finished shooting. I told him a couple more photos and then we would be on our way. 3 hours later I finally gave Dick a break and wrapped the shoot. He was such a good sport and asked sincerely if i got everything I needed. Dick is known as an ironman and a racers racer. He was the first racer to accomplish a Grand Slam (wins on a mile, 1/2 mile, short track, TT and road racing) and even made the USA International Six Day Trails team! Dick overcame horrific injuries to make a comeback late in his career and win a second championship (and be the oldest person to win a Championship, I believe..). I learned a lot from Dick that day and am constantly thinking about his life lived full, full of integrity and the strength to persevere. Now I can only think of two things:

1. I wan't one of those like right now but we don't have any at home and that sucks

2. I kinda wanna try if shaving cream not only looks and feels but also tastes the same
