Bangel bitch 4life. Just wanted to say I totally agree with the post about still being able to enjoy the fandom. I grew up with it, I was in the chatrooms, read all the fanfics on all the random websites, it has and always will be such a big part of my life (just bought a stationary set actually haha) so when I found this community on tumblr I was over the moon about how much this show still continues to resonate. But I was very surprised to see how divided everyone was on the shipping situation, didn't even know it was contentious or anything. It does make me feel very grateful that it came out over 20 years ago and not now because imagine the shipping wars 😖 But yes, I try to stay in my line and be nice too.
Hi! Yeah, I feel like the ship war is still happening though? Which is kind of unusual lol. But Buffy has an extremely passionate fanbase, there's people who've watched it since the very first episode aired, people who discovered it when the later seasons were airing, people who discovered it a few years after it ended, people who discovered it a few years ago, people who discovered it last month, people who discovered it! today! ... Just fans of all ages. So, when you have an old show that still continues to find new audiences literally every day, these fans are experiencing it for the first time, so I think that's where the divide comes into play. It's all new to them, so they wanna create discourse/etc because they weren't around for it all earlier.
I don't think this divide within the fandom will ever go away, but I'm just here for a good time. I'm glad to find another bangel bitch!
