DIEGO BRANDO🦖🫳🫳🫳
Diego Week Day 6: fame | fortune
today i offer a cosplay transition edit that i never finished, but i like this clip a lot. maybe i'll come back to it or remake it one day..
i love exploring characters through music, and with diego in particular i find it interesting looking at both him as a person and him as a jockey/celebrity/public figure. most of his day-to-day interactions likely bore him, so over the years he's developed scripts to charm and persuade his mentors, peers, and the public. i doubt that how he presents himself on most occasions is the true diego brando, and i doubt he actually cares about living a lavish lifestyle (but he wants you to think he does).
Whenever someone brings up the old rich lady diego (ALLEGEDLY) killed for money, its rlly annoying bc i genuinley do not care if he did or didnt 😭😭 his only crime was killing wekapipo

*sighs* a diego fan who's amazing at writing... a dream come true... practically the same thing.
please can i request for a diego brando x reader who has a stand called super freaks (to like, y'know, complete the reference) and it lets them speak to/summon cryptids. And for the scenario, like, diego looses control of SM, and reader manages to calm him down, and he wakes up just fully lying on top of them.
feel free to ignore this ik its super specific but i think its cool
Back to Reality
Diego x Reader
A/n : this was super fun to write!! Thanks for the request! 💕
“Diego?” you call into the dark forest.
You can hear a distant grunting sound followed by the sound of foliage getting crushed. You run in the direction that Diego had gone off in, hoping to find him sooner rather than later.
“Diego, what’s wrong?” you yell.
He had run off so quickly that you stood in place by the horses with a look of pure confusion for a moment before running after him. You had seen the cracks forming on his hands and near his mouth, giving you a good idea that he’s currently in his Utahraptor form.
You essentially run blind into the forest. The limited moonlight cuts through the trees in sparse little splotches, giving you just enough light to keep you from falling flat on your face.
Just as you pass a large bush, you’re abruptly knocked to the ground when a heavy weight suddenly slams into you. With a gasp, you look up and are met with sharp, blue eyes that belong to none other than Diego Brando. You’re very aware of the sharp claw that presses against your sternum with just enough force to sting.
“D-Diego?” you say quietly as you stare up at him with wide eyes.
He huffs right in your face before growling. His sharp eyes show no recognition of you. A cold sweat covers your body when you realize that he isn’t seeing you as his riding partner, he sees you as prey. His claw digs in a little more, drawing a bit of blood from your chest.
“Super Freaks!” you gasp as he presses more of his weight on your chest, pushing the air from your lungs. Your stand materializes and quickly wraps itself around Diego.
Freaked out by the sudden appearance of your stand, Diego steps off of you and tries to shake off the stand. You gasp as you try to catch your breath after having it forced from your lungs just moments before. Your hand presses against your chest, letting your shirt absorb the blood.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” you yell in an angry tone as your head snaps over to him. You watch as he freezes before turning to you. His head tilts just a fraction, almost like he’s trying to figure out how he can understand you. With a small groan, you pull open your shirt a little to see the damage from his claw. It’s really nothing crazy, but you know full well the potential for damage that claw has.
“It’s me, you dumb ass,” you mutter to him as you roll your eyes.
You can’t help but stiffen up when he walks over to you. He presses his snout close to your chest, sniffing the blood that stains your shirt. You wince and push him away when he suddenly licks the small puncture wound.
“What the hell are you doing?” you ask with a confused look on your face. You note the way he’s acting more and more than an actual dinosaur. In the past, he’s still managed to maintain some semblance of his normal human self while his stand is active.
He makes an odd clicking sound before snorting. His head suddenly whips to the side before he smells the air. You follow his gaze but see nothing until your horses walk into the moonlight.
“Are you in control of yourself right now?” you ask, but get no response other than him staring at you with sharp, animalistic eyes.
“I’ll take that as a no,” you mutter with a small sigh. “Okay,” you say as you stand and glance around, “it’s too dark to ride tonight, and I don’t really trust you not to go running off again, so we’ll make camp here for the night.”
He continues to stare at you. You can tell that he understands what you’re saying but just doesn’t really care. You stare back at him with a flat look before gathering some sticks and logs to make a fire.
After wandering off to gather some tinder, you walk back and are met with a small pile of sticks on the ground in front of where Diego is lying. You glance up at him, “did you grab this?” He responds with a quiet huff and a look that just screams his usual arrogance.
Some things never change.
You quietly bend down and gather up all the sticks. You make quick work of starting a fire. The nights are getting colder and colder the closer the two of you get to New York. Having grown up in the south, the cold has never been your favorite and never fails to put you in a bad mood.
Thoroughly exhausted from hunting down Diego and almost becoming his dinner, you grab your sleeping bag and toss it on the ground, not even bothering to make any food.
“I still can’t believe you almost killed me today,” you huff as you curl up tightly under your blanket. Diego shifts his attention to you for just a moment before turning away and tucking his snout into the sparse feathers that cover his body, providing him with a little bit of warmth.
After a few hours pass, you are still very much cold and very much awake. The fire does very little to help. You glance over at Diego and you can’t help but imagine how warm it’d be to be surrounded by his feathers and large body.
You watch him for a moment as his feathers ruffle with each deep breath. His arms and legs twitch slightly as he sleeps.
As a cold breeze rushes through your camp, cutting right through your blankets, you stand with a deep sigh. As you walk over to him, he opens an eye and watches as you step closer.
“Move your head,” you say in a tired tone.
He huffs but does it anyway.
Wrapping yourself up in your blanket, you lay down against his body. The feathers do in fact keep you warm, but you weren’t expecting his head to drape over your lap.
You can’t help but freeze a little as his body wraps around you, but the warmth that comes with being tucked against him is heavenly. The fan of feathers at the end of his tail covers you like an extra blanket. Your body relaxes almost instantly and your eyes slip shut not long after.
You wake when warm rays of sunlight break through the canopy and bathe you in light. You open your eyes expecting to see a large mass of blue feathers and scales, but instead you’re met with the soft wool of a sweater. You pull your head back just a fraction and are met with Diego back in his human form. His arms are wrapped tightly around you and his legs intertwine with your own, making escape impossible. Not that you’d want to escape from the safety of his hold.
You’ve never been this close to him without it being a necessity due to a stand fight. He looks younger. He lacks his usual scowl as he sleeps peacefully and his mouth hangs open just slightly. You have to force yourself not to run your finger along his soft skin.
His eyes snap open not even a few seconds after you’ve started to stare at him. Your own eyes widen and shift away a second after his eyes meet yours.
“If you draw a picture, it’ll last you longer,” he mutters, tightening his hold on you before realizing that he is in fact holding you close to his body.
His eyes widen as he quickly lets go and scootches away from you. You can tell he’s trying to play it cool.
“What the hell are you doing?” he mutters, trying to hide the redness of his cheeks.
You sit up slightly and stretch out your arms.
“Do you really not remember anything from last night?” you ask with a furrowed brow.
He shakes his head as he looks back over at you.
You sigh and stand, still wrapped in your blanket, reinvigorating the fire to make some coffee.
“You sprinted off into the woods like a bat out of hell,” you sigh as you look back over to him. “I had to chase after you. It was weird though. It was like you completely lost yourself and turned into an animal.”
You open up your blanket and expose the blood stained shirt you hadn’t bothered to change out of last night. “You attacked me, but I used my stand to force you to hear me.”
His eyes widen as he quickly takes a step toward you. In an uncharacteristic move for him, he hesitates for a moment before moving your shirt to see the damage. “I did this?” he asks quietly.
“Yeah, but it’s fine,” you shrug, “it was more scary than painful. Get it? Scary Monsters?” You chuckle at your own, semi-funny pun, earning an eyeroll and the faintest of scoffs from him.
“That’s not a good joke,” he mutters before pulling his hand away, “mine are much better.”
“Anyway,” you say as you turn back to the coffee pot, “I managed to get you to calm down. I decided it’d be best if we stayed here for the night, so we did.”
“That doesn’t explain why I woke up with you in my arms,” he mutters, taking the cup of coffee you hand him.
“I was getting to that,” you huff, “it was freezing last night and I was cold. You looked warm, so I thought I would lay with you and that was that. Nothing crazy happened.”
You can’t help the pink flush that makes its way to your face, so you avoid his gaze.
You glance up when some gauze suddenly appears in front of your face.
“It’ll get infected if you don’t take care of it, idiot,” he mutters as you grab the gauze, “I can’t have you slowing me down.”
You smirk to yourself. You’ve been riding with Diego long enough to know that this is his way of caring for you. “Thanks,” you say softly as you lean back and bandage up the small wound on your chest. “So, do you have any idea what might have triggered that to happen?” you ask as you look back up at him.
He shakes his head, “not a clue.”
You sigh, “well, then it’s a good thing I have my stand.”
“Mhm,” he hums as he sips his coffee. You can tell that he’s deep in thought right now, so you don’t bother asking anymore questions.
Your gaze turns out toward the forest, finding you horses grazing not far from the two of you. Their tails swish back and forth to fend off any flies and other insects that are being bothersome. Eventually your horse trots over to Silver Bullet, gently nuzzling his neck with her muzzle. You can’t help the way your cheeks heat up as your horses show clear affection to each other. Sneaking a glance at Diego, your eyes widen when you see that he was already looking at you with a similar look on his face. Both of your cheeks get bright red as he quickly stands and whistles to bring the horses over.
“We should get going,” he mutters, “we’re wasting time just sitting here.”
“Agreed,” you say softly as you quickly smother the fire and gather your things. The two of you pack up camp without a word, trying your hardest to ignore your respective feelings for each other.
