Great Meal Planner App for Vegetarians and Non-Vegetarians!
I got this app called Diet Genius. It's currently $3.99 but I think it's pretty well worth it. I always struggle with diet/meal planner apps because I'm a vegetarian and they always include meat without options to change it. Well this one customizes you a daily and weekly meal plan according to your weight loss goals and activity levels but gave me the option to "turn off" foods I don't like or eat (meat). You can easily swap a single item, refresh an entire meal, or an entire day. The only downside of this app, but may be a good thing for others is it doesn't give you nutrition info but that's ok a lot of the time since calorie counting can be such a pain in the ass. I wish it was a bit more adjustable like MyFitnessPal because somedays I burn a lot more calories than other days but I think I can use it in conjunction with it. I can plan meals and still input my information into MyFitnessPal (I just now thought of this).
Another app I got was is Shop Well. It basically customizes what you should and shouldn't be eating according to your info and lifestyle. For me, it says Calcium, Fiber, Folic Acid, Iron, Potassium, Protein, Vitamin C, and Whole Grains are important (but it did not check low-calorie for me probably because of my lifestyle). It says I should minimize added sugar, high fructose corn syrup, refined grains, preservatives and transfats, High Cholesterol, High Fat, High Saturated Fat, and High Sodium but gives you the option to eliminate other things like artificial sweetners, lactose, color additives etc. It allows you to scan items, so I scanned Quaker "Quakes" popcorn snacks and it said it has added sugar in it and better options would be plain rice cakes. I like this app because a lot of stuff that claims to be healthy isn't. Cereals can be some of the trickiest, along with protein bars that have so much sugar in it that you don't realize.
