Belated 5th Anniversary of the Comic

It's been a little over two weeks since November 13th, which marks five years since the release of Chapter 1, and the beginning of the comic. This date doesn't matter as much to me as the actual AU's anniversary (though, that doesn't mean there'll be something for every anniversary, definitely not) but I still wanted to do something for it. It's nothing too big or anything, but it took longer than we expected because of multiple reasons.

For a long time I've wanted there to be a DT version of this promotional art used for Undertale.

And over the years I tried twice to make it, but I never ended up finishing them. So for this occasion, I asked a member of the team, @hai-rabs if she'd like to try. And here it is!

Also, this isn't the only thing. You may or may not have noticed that soon after the intro was uploaded on Youtube, which was almost three months ago now, I unlisted the video.

This was because I wanted to update some of the panels a bit. Nothing too major, it's mostly small differences you probably won't notice. Except for one panel that had a substantial update and took quite a while, so you'll probably notice that one. Here it is:

Introducing Gonzo

If you read the latest chapter, you might be a bit confused as to who this little guy was. While most characters in Differentopic are from preexisting franchises, this one is the only one not based on anything. His name is Gonzo, and he takes the role of the Annoying Dog, along with the Goose from Untitled Goose Game (the two characters take one role.)

He's a self-insert of myself. I've been wanting to introduce him for a long time, I designed him all the way back in January 2020. As you can see, I've drawn him many times over the years. He won't be important to the overall story much, but he'll still show up from time to time, just like the Annoying Dog.

CHAPTER 9a on Differentopic's 9th Anniversary!

Differentopic is an Undertale AU in which the characters and places are from many different games, shows and movies.

Chapter 9a: "Ice Times Gone By" is now on MSPFA!

That's right, the long awaited Chapter 9a is finally here! And what better day to release it than today, August 4th, the 9th anniversary of Differentopic. That doesn't mean I had it finished and waited until today to release it, quite the opposite actually, I had to really try to finish it for today. Which isn't to say it was rushed, not in the slightest.

It's been a year since the remastered chapters started, and it's been almost 2 years since the last brand new one. After the last post I didn't expect it to take this long, but it did.

This time, the new songs in this chapter will take some time before they're uploaded on Soundcloud. I don't announce new songs here, I post them on the Discord server, so if you wanna know when they get posted, you can join the server.

Chapter 1 Update

Chapter 1 has been updated in the following ways:

Updated the introduction sequence, including the song. You can now watch it on Youtube. (we now have a Youtube channel.)

Added the Options and Extras pages to the Main Menu.

All the sprites of a certain character have been updated.

Other minor fixes.

Also, a bit unrelated, but don't expect the next chapter to be released this year. I don't see myself making it soon given how busy I've been. This chapter update might not seem like much but it took quite a while.

Chapter 8: "Gold and Brash" is now on MSPFA!

And with that, the remastered chapters are now complete! The story will finally continue with the next chapter. Although, I have to say that from now on, chapters are going to slow down drastically, as obviously new chapters take longer to make than updating old ones. Plus, I've gotten increasingly busier lately.

But as always, the next chapter(s) will come out eventually, no matter how long they take. Just wait!

DIFFERENTOPIC IS BACK, and better than ever!

Today, August 4, is Differentopic's 8th birthday. In 2016, Shad made a deviantART journal showing the original roles. For years I've been wanting to do something for this date, but I've never been able to. Until today.

Around the beginning of this year, I decided to remake the comic, updating almost ALL of the sprites (overworld, battle, tiles, everything.) and some, although not much, of the writing. Unfortunately, the main writer of the comic, Res, hasn't been online much for personal reasons, which lead me to work on this pretty much all by myself. However, I was able to get Soufon on the team as a musician, which is great, you've probably heard of them.

I also decided to move the comic from Imgur to MS Paint Fan Adventures. Imgur's layout had been bothering me for a while, so this has been a long time coming. MSPFA is much better for webcomics, the ads aren't annoying like on Imgur and it allows you to auto-play music without you having to go to SoundCloud to play it yourself.

I was able to finish Chapters 1, 2 and 3 for this date, and I will continue to work on the rest of the chapters during the following months. When I finish remaking everything, then the story will finally continue with Chapter 9, but there's still quite some time before that's released. For now, you can see what I've been working on for the last 8 months, and thank you for the continued patience.
