Rarely is what we see on social media synonymous with real life. Often, it’s a carefully curated, heavily edited version that we package for show. We broadcast the beach photos and the engagements— the holiday sweaters and the dresses. We post the tropical drinks and the puppies— the babies and the first days of school. And while those days and things are an essential part of this life, they are also not likely the majority. They aren’t the things that walk us through our days. Real life is. And real life is scattered with routine and work and school— with laundry and schedules and stress. It has the heartbreak and the bad news— the doctors appointments and emergencies. Real life is where we go to sleep, worrying about where the rent is coming from or how we’re going to overcome a medical diagnosis. Real life is saying goodbye, I’ll see you soon— and never having another chance to say that. It’s the history and the past— the part we long for and regret. It’s our daily struggle to get better— to be better— to have better. And that— that— is what makes our lives. Our journeys. And darling, that is the part you’ll never see plastered on social media. So what I want you to know is that we all have those real things we’re working through. Even if you never hear about them and we don’t show you. And no matter what, we all have the power to overcome those things. I know. You’ve been hurt. You’ve had a tough childhood. You’re sick. Or struggling. Or healing. You aren’t sure who you are or where you’re going. You’re lost. Yes, darling. We all are. And it’s ok— all of it. Onward. ♥ // July 2018: So thankful that the universe had #differentplans than I did. // #liveinthedetails #couragetorise #writersofinstagram #thelifeletters #TheGoodQuote—————————————————————————— Pre-orders for Courage to Rise are happening now (link in bio).
