We went hiking yesterday
Wouldn't recommend going hiking alone in the woods the day after finishing Stranger Things. I was jumping at every acorn that fell. The two deer and the coyote just about made me piss myself. 😐
I hiked eleven miles today. Two of them pretty much straight up lookout mountain. I'm not sure, but I suspect my legs might be constructed of jello at this point.
Cannot recommend starting at the Skyuka trail-head. It is INCREDIBLY overgrown. At several points I had to take my pack off and literally crawl under a fallen tree. So, if you want to hike Skyuka Springs trail, start at the nature center. Other than that this one wasn't bad. Though I did get a little turned around at one point and ended up on the Lower Truck trail instead, which was boring AF.
After breaking for a sandwich at the springs (which was so dry. God, we need rain) I took the John Smartt trail up straight up the mountain and hiked the Bluff Trail back to Sunset Rock. I do like the Bluff Trail, it might be one of my favorites in Chattanooga.
Went hiking Signal Mountain yesterday. From Rainbow Lake,(which was VERY dried up) to Edward's Point to Signal Point back to the lake and around the loop. About nine miles all together. Worth the aching feet though.
This one is a very "Rock-to-Rock" trail. You have to watch where you put your feet. It's also on the harder side of moderately difficult. I would NOT be taking Nana on this one (or my Mother for that matter, she's not so good with the rock climbing). It's my favorite kind of trail though.
