HI HI HIII!!! I'm very bad at explaining but I'll try my best, lolll

Okay so first things first: Don't feel down if your art turns out chopped. I've been on your shoes before I got to where I am now—it's part of progress and you can still improved it! so keep going forward, my friend:D!!

Now, now- I'm not a professional artist since I'm a self-taught artist who magically creates arts that sometimes looks good and bad. So excuse my vague explanation 😭

Every artist draws their characters hair differently depending on their art style, but for me- I don't draw the hair strand by strand, instead I draw its chunk (just like kids drawing a tree with no such details). I then add spikes as volume of the hair to add a bit of life to it—don't draw them stiffly, okay?? (I mean you can if that's your art style)

I would also advice you to practice drawing different lines especially curves and waves until your finger or hand gets used to it (idk idk you're a finger artist or a pen artist😭)

Drawing hairs also depends of what type of hair are you going to do, volumes brings life and affects how people see your arts. If you're going to draw men then it's volume should focus more higher part—specifically around the head area—and lower the volume at the bottom (4th image). If women, volume should focus more on the lower part of the hair than the higher part, add more volume if that type of hair is really wavy. (1st and 3rd image)

Now, I usually don't put a lot of volumes on straight hairs + it depends on the gender of the character I am drawing:D! (Look closely at the 1st and 2nd image)

I don't know if anyone needs to hear this, but it's okay to not "improve" your art. It's okay if you don't want to study. It's okay if you don't want to become a professional or turn your art into a career. It's okay if your anatomy isn't perfect. It's okay if you don't draw humans. It's okay if your art isn't "good" on a technical level. It's okay if you draw just because it makes you happy and helps you express yourself. At the end of the day, as long it's not doing any harm, there is no such thing as bad art. It's all beautiful, and it all deserves to exist. Your art is good enough. YOU are good enough.

I dont think the TV for a head trope is dead, there's still a few creative ways of doing it, like having a little guy on screen and having him and the main body do the same poses. Or just having more weird faces, it's a screen after all, you can have a sideways face or have some guy's head in the screen.

what’re your tips for improving anatomy/interesting dynamic posing?? what process do you follow?

I think anatomy and posing come hand in hand. The reason for this is that once you understand human form, you get a better understanding of body dynamics and how people move.

Personally, I really struggled with both of these things, until I learned to gesture draw from life, and copied down diagrams from anatomical reference. It can take a lot of time, but when you work on both of these things, you can apply them to each other, and you'll start to see your skills and muscle memory improve! I would also really recommend you take a look at how animators think about shorthand & posing- breaking up the torso/pelvis, using lines of action, framing, etc. Always be thinking about where weight is being applied!

One last word of advice, when you're in a slump with art, it usually just means you're recognizing areas where you can grow. Be kind to yourself, because the best way to learn is to keep practicing!
