I wish like hell it was easier to get on with other longtime members of the Samurai Troopers fandom.
#there be some mean and entitled people on al gore's internet#and a few of them are making revisionist ai fanart to pretend the new series doesn't exist#and it's genuinely sad#35 years of entrenched - often vibes-based - headcanons crashing up against the shores of the new series moving on to something new#has created some specific-ass mental illnesses that are not in the DSM#This is mostly in jest but the VITRIOL against ShinDen because the OG troopers aren't the focus characters#((Paired with the knee-jerk realization that the characters as well as themselves have aged and the world has moved on to a different story#it's not like YST was an incomplete show and we were waiting for another shoe to drop for 35 years#The complete lack of interest in the new cast is so sad too#the new kids are so interesting and have such bespoke relationships to the world they live in#and reflect beautifully the same kinds of trepidation and hangups the OG squad had#while all being very unique#well-realized characters#And of course there's the fatphobia#the reaction to Jun having a major depressive spiral and gaining weight in the process has been#difficult to weather#The writers of this show are Fucking Doing Something with this concept#And I have to get more fluent in Japanese so I can have big brain talks with people who care about the series more than their headcanons#because I am not going back to facebook or reddit those people are insufferable
