NYFW Day 5

Even though Monday had an early start at 10AM, I was the most excited to wake up because of the Dennis Basso show. I am a grouchy morning person, but with the motivation to see one of my favorite designers of the entire NYFW, I sprang out of bed.

Matching the Dennis Basso NYFW Venue

As I approached my closet, I kept in mind that the Show was going to be special as it was off-site at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Manhattan. I wanted to match the vintage and classic vibes of the collection and venue, so I opted for similar hues with colors such as taupe, teal, burgundy, beige, and black.

I knew just the piece I wanted to start with: this beautiful color-blocked pleated skirt in three different colorways of navy, burgundy, and teal. This skirt was designed by the amazing BCBG Maxazria and is now sold out, but I found similar skirts in color and body here and here.

Next, I balanced the dark, cool tones of the pleats with a cream cold-shouldered top. To contrast the top and put together the look, I wore a long pea coat with a black fur collar. Little did I know that this was so fitting for the Show, since Dennis Basso showcased a lot of fur in his Collection. I matched and I didn’t even intend to!

For my accessories, I put on taupe booties which went well with the colors of my skirt in addition to my amazing Stella McCartney vegan leather Falabella bag. This bag is amazing and fits so many things! I actually have a blog post about how I spilled water on this bag and successfully cleaned it here.
